Draezn
Heylo, Wondering if anyone has some beta on backcountry huts or the likes in NW Washington, if any. Info seems to be scarce, about all I could find was a yurt operated by North Cascades Heli-Skiing in the Indiana Basin. Looking for something ideal for an overnighter / snowshoeing somewhat close to the border (coming down from BC). Thx.
chris
Good luck- There are two fire lookouts on Cascade River Road that are accessible in the winter, and another fire lookout on top of Winchester Peak on Hwy 542. I'm not aware of any other huts north of Hwy 2.

Alex_Mineev
what are the rules of using the lookouts? I assume no permits of any kind are required?

joeschmoe
most of the lookouts i've come across so far are locked up. Lookouts can be rented and must be reserved in advance. Here is the link for the cabins/lookouts and reservation info http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/recreation/rentals/
PONCHO&LEFTY
I don't think you'll need to reserve Winchester Mt....I think (and only think) that it is first come first serve.

kamatz
Check us out at www.ncbasecamp.com. Not a hut but located where the Methow Valley meets the North Cascades. We offer lodging with all meals in our rustic lodge and have a cabin that sleeps up to 7. There is sking, ice climbing and snow shoeing out the door and much, much more only a short drive away. Take it easy, Josh
