iain
Went up Wy'East y'day. Here's some conds and info for anyone still heading up Hood. Dropped onto White River Glacier around Silcox elev. Regular rock fall off Steel Cliffs. Big av. tracks across the face, we climbed up the scouring for some good snow. The gully is in bad shape. The entrance was 5.3 climbing in spikes and ski boots through a good sized waterfall, with rocks trundling down on us at times. The snow in the upper gully was slushy and rockfall was present. As if it were not obvious, this route is not recommended right now. If anyone goes up Hood right now, there is a killer snow cave at the summit with a window over the north face. iain
Oh yeah and if R. Pumpington is still listening, I came down the S. Side and may have caught a glimpse of Leuthold on the way home so I can spray liberally about conditions on those routes too.
MtnHigh
Going up Wy'east in slush and mud sounds like someone was jonesin' for a climb. Did you get your fix?
iain
We were gluttons for punishment heading up there right now, but I was itching to get up there again for some reason. One strange thing: up on the crater rim at the top of the east crater wall, someone has spread out a big american flag held down by rocks, and there is a second one crumpled up on the side.
