I'm home today with my sick daughter, looking outside at this horrible weather remembering this has been another good year of climbing.

It's been a weird year. I started mixed climbing. Took the summer off from rock climbing. Got a job, went back to school, only got in a few alpine climbs.

Successes:

Climbed nearly all 10s at Beacon Rock (I love living close to it)

Climbed m7

Climbed Wi5+

Defeats:

Got shut down on Free For Some several times, never have finished it.

Couldn't pull last few moves of Amphibian after working it for a month.

Blasphemy, down at Smith. My first 11a, got the redpoint on my 3rd attempt smile.gif

Paul Maul, hardest clean gear route to date.

First fall on gear (blue TCU) on Calamity Jam. Ended up falling on it 3 times, and managed to sack up pull through the crux and cruise the rest. Damn things not 10c is all I have to say.

Let my first (and only) drytool route at M4 over at little crag in Issaquah (lead it by headlamp none the less). Thanks for the bolts Alex! One fall near the top while groveling for a stick into a clump of grass tongue.gif

North Face of Chair Peak in winter. (First Ice climb of any type, did Ob. Rock this fall which was mellow.)

Most dissapointing moment wimped out of trying Wartley's Revenge. frown.gif I decided that trying to onsight 2 grades harder than my hardest redpoint on gear was bad idea. I'm an idiot and should have tried it anyway!

Here's my chance to beat my chest:

FWA Slippery Slab Tower

N Face Buckner

Snowpatch via Kraus Mc-Carthey

Donkey Ears via Ears Between

Middle Crescent via Lions Way

FNR Stuart (kinda a day, kinda)

Lead up to 10c sport

Lead up to 10a trad

Climbed at a dozen crags around WA, OR, and BC

Skied the pow-pow for rilla

Secret photo-taking session along the Chihuahua

Multiple failures at something named Zero

Have to say though that the best tick was meeting up with some new folks to climb with. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif
