MountaingirlBC Posted April 27, 2006 Share Posted April 27, 2006 I'm bored out of my freakin mind on my stair climber and need something to take my mind off the 60lbs on my back and the 60 min on the clock. TV sucks. I've watched Touching the Void way too much. Any other reccomendations? I tried that new 'SubZero' movie that is in video stores now and I can safely say that that was hands down the worst climbing movie I have ever seen in my life. It's worth renting just for a laugh. I actually watched it twice because it was so bad I had to show my friends. They're on the summit of K2 (which they got to in about 72 hours from sea level) walking 6 abreast with ski runs and trees in the background. And there's LOTS more where that came from. The Wonderland Project, though not necessarily about climbing, is a documentary about a couple of cats that ran the Wonderland Trail (94 miles / 22,000 ft elev gain) in 24 Hours. NTM Posted April 28, 2006 Share Posted April 28, 2006 oh man, there's TONS! of course the classics: The Eiger Sanction, Vertical Limit and Cliffhanger. One of the infinite ADD-type boulding videos (pumping techno and loud slaps on sloperz) or another climbing porn (Frequent Fliers is rad, so is Return to Sender). Then there are the movies that have short clips that climbers get to laugh at. Bringing out the Dead (with Nick Cage) isn't half bad on its own, but includes a wicked rescue of a guy impaled on an iron fence on the 3rd floor. The Fire Dept guys pound a piton into the mortar between two bricks which of course holds 2-3 people falling (outward pull nonetheless!). This should get you started. Â I rented the 1st season of House which is so far pretty good. Never tire of the dark brooding brilliant doctor role. I loved Bringing out the Dead... pretty much anything with Nick Cage in it is good. Gone in 60 seconds was good too... and had the added bonus of Angelina *yummy* I've been saving Eiger Sanction to watch on a rainy weekend with my climbing buddies. Vertical Limit was pretty silly but better than Oprah. Haven't seen Cliffhanger in a million years so I might check that one out again. You almost feel guilty watching the two climbers revisit the scene of the whole episode; it's like you're looking in on a conversation you're not supposed. Wait till you see Tracy's standing hip belay catch of a 30 footer.
