June 7 footwear?

Hi, I'm planning my first early-June attempt up ID (9th-11th). Plan = camp IF on 9th, summit and descend on the 10th, but allow for same on the 11th if we have weather on the 10th.

Are boots and crampons sufficient footwear for this route in early June? Or are other snow-travel accessories mandatory?

Thx!

If you are asking about snowshoes, I would agree that they are not needed due to the fact there should be some traffic before you. Doesn't take too long for a decent trail to be made. But if there has been fresh snowfall, they might be very helpfull. Might be a good idea to take them in the car and make the call at paradise.

If your question is about boots, plastic or leather, well I would say plastic for that month.

crampons? always.

enjoy up there!

Yeah, June is a weird month, cold, yet sunny, then cold snaps...kinda annoying.

You can get away with some leather boots this time depending on your route and speed, but if your feet get as cold as mine do while sharing a route with groups of weekend warriors who's climbing pattern resembles stop and go traffic near Tacoma on I-5..........then plastics are the ticket to still having a good time.
