Ive been up there three times so far this year on the face but we have gotten so much new snow im wondering if how consolidated it wil be. iain Posted November 10, 2005 Share Posted November 10, 2005 After it starts dumping up there for the year that route turns into a ski run (or a long slog with a bergschrund problem). Better as an alpine ice (earlier) climb. Unfortunately we did not get the early coldness and now it is snowy. marcus Posted November 10, 2005 Share Posted November 10, 2005 Up on Cloudcap Tuesday...about 18-24" of recent snow under a crust from Saturday. Unfortunately the crust is insulating the lower snowpack, slowing its consolidation. At the very least, bring floatation and a lot of patience...use your judgment. John Frieh Posted November 10, 2005 Share Posted November 10, 2005 I heard an inversion was parked over Hood for Tuesday and Wednesday so nothing has really been consolidating (which could be an explain for the crust Marcus observed).
