Highlander Posted July 22, 2002 Share Posted July 22, 2002 You can be in the Basin in 2 to 3 hours or faster if your hauling ass. I would take an axe for the snow ramp up to Sharkfin. I used ski poles across the glacier but liked my axe above the lower part of the snow finger which we bypassed on the left via 3rd class granite due to schrund... MountainMan Posted July 22, 2002 Share Posted July 22, 2002 Was in Boston Basin this weekend ... it took a little less than 2.5 hours to reach the basin with a 60 pound pack ... if you're doing a daytrip with a light pack, you'll be up there a lot faster. The trail is in good shape aside from the avalanche debris which has swept the middle section. It doesn't slow you down a lot, it's just a pain in the ass.
