Christopher
Hello CC- Has anyone done Mt Ruth Lately? Any Beta you can share? Is this peak possible in the winter without having to rope up? Thanks in advance!
mattp
I can't answer question number one, but most people who climb it on skis do not even carry a rope. In the summer, whether on skis or not, many parties do not rope up.
dberdinka
In winter and early spring the valley is generally a mess of avi debri. Add in the long road approach and there are probably better peaks in the area to climb. Goat Pk and Shuksan can both be great winter climbs, the latter being more committing. Oh, Mattp is definitely correct about the rope.
rperitore
Ruth is absolutely outstanding in mid-winter. You need to move QUICKLY up the creek towards Hadlee Pass. Be very mindful of warming in the early part of the day as there are very large avalanche slopes looming on your north. Would consider getting a very early start to lessen that risk. and camp above Hadlee pass somewhere. Skiing is incredibly on Ruth. Have fun!
