chelle
Anybody been in that part of the Cascades lately? How much snow is in the Vesper area?
slothrop
There's Vesper on the left, viewed from Del Campo on 5/29: There was a couple feet of snow on the north side of the ridge before you get to Gothic Basin, which is at about 5k'(?). It's melting fast, though.

chelle
Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to hike in there in a couple weeks. Sounds like it'll be mostly trail by then.
icechick
Heading to climb Vesper/Sperry July 4th weekend. Any updates on conditions? Thanks
lunger
as of yesterday, a little snow lingered on Vesper's N-face ledges, but I'd wager you'll have relatively dry rock by the 4th. Sperry is pretty much snow-free.
icechick
Thanks for the info. Did you climb the N Face on Vesper? Which route? Like it? Did you take the ridge from Vesper over to Sperry?

Gary_Yngve
There's no snow at all to Headlee Pass. The basin has a good deal of snow, but the ridge between Vesper and the 5800' knob are mostly bare (didn't go beyond there to Sperry, and couldn't see through the clouds either). There's still snow on the upper slopes of Vesper.
