markinct
I'd like to organize or join a team planning to climb Foraker (17.4 Kft.) in Spring 2006 via its Sultana (NE) Ridge. I've been to 16 Kft. on the route. If you have previous experience climbing in the Alaska Range and are looking for a moderate (Alaska Grade 3) snow and ice technical route, please let me know. The climb starts at the Kahiltna SE Fork landing strip and has a few hour approach across the Kahiltna Glacier before ascending Crosson. A brief description of the route, including a few photos, can be found at http://aai.cc/foraker.asp A photo taken from the Denali W. Rib is at www.terragalleria.com/mountain/mountain-image.mcki3370.html The lower portion of the route ascends the SE Ridge (left edge) of Mt. Crosson (12.8 Kft.) located in front of Foraker in this view. Other than the portion of the route blocked by Crosson, the upper route is the sun/shade line. More details of the route and a typical itinerary can be found at www.climbalaska.org/foraker-sultana.html Edited April 17, 2005 by markinct
