The last great problem?

Recommended Posts

1) The "last great (summer mostly rock route) problem" in WA's North Cascades?

AND/OR

2) A route that has seen only one ascent, that, if the FA was verified as a hoax, would have potential as the classic "last great problem"?

(Note: The answers need not necessarily be the same.)

What about the north face of South Hozomeen?

Anybody done that one? Looks like about 1500feet.

There is no "north face". There is a north ridge and a steep East face.

No North Face?

I guess this is a NNW face to you. Remember to go by true north, not magnetic north. yellaf.gif

Good estimate there Stefan. Contours show about 1,600 ft.

Maybe am dumb and missed it but has anyone done the SE face on Agnes? Always thought it looked enticing(looks could be a honeypot considering how bad the rock elsewhere on the mountain is, 1200ft for the upper half, 2000ft if you could link the bottom portion too.  Also the SE ridge of Crowder maybe? Looks like you could take some slaby goodness from valley floor all the way up 6000 ft in length.

No, but it almost did me in about 10 years ago.  Spontaneous rockfall came flying off of that face and impacted the couloir all around us, narrowly missing killing at least a couple of us.

But I'm sure that was just a bad coincidence! :crosseye:
