layton Posted January 3, 2005 Share Posted January 3, 2005 just read the avy forecast and also imagining the snowpack through remote sensing (i see unconsolidated fluff and sugar) what have y'all seen? i'm concidering going up a moderately steep 1500' west facing slope at about 4-5000' elevation tuesday and wed. Thudman Posted January 3, 2005 Share Posted January 3, 2005 I did some ski touring around SkiBowl the last couple of days and the conditions pretty much confirm what you see on telemetry. The cold, clear nights will probably rot the bottom layer out a bit, but there isn't that much snow. I'd just check for evidence of wind loading if I were you. Nathan Posted January 3, 2005 Share Posted January 3, 2005 In case you're interested in Canadian conditions, I was in the backcountry near Whistler yesterday. Basically conditions are like you say.
