A route that doesn't go in a day?

If the wonderland trail can be done in 30 something hours (20,000+vertical gain and 100+ish miles?)

And the nose goes in 2 something hours,Certainly any route on any hill in our state could go in a 24 hour day.

Sure not by me though.

Just for curiousity, who is the stongest big hill slogger in WA right now (with a good size pack, and mountain boots on -no trail runners)? I would say that Ben Manfredi would have to rank right up there. He just recently tried to break the wonderland trail record, with a pack on and with no support team or cached food or water. He usually hikes in his Terminator tele boots.

There's a BIG difference between covering miles and vertical feet. While climbing the nose in 2:48 is mind boggling, it's still 3,000 feet up without much approach and straight forward descent. Approaching 15 miles, climbing 5,000+, descending/hiking out same is big enough.(Mt. Goode.) Moving over extremely rugged terrain, bush wacking, and covering MANY miles means you just won't do it in a day. Thus my premise there are LOTS of routes not doable in a day. Why bother listing them all. Those of us who have been there know getting it done in 24 hours or even 48 is NOT what it's all about.

Why anybody would want to do the schwak up and back from Blum in the same day is well beyond me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> !!

How about tagging all of the summits of the Liberty Bell group in a day? Anybody try it? Looks like it could be possible....

I agree!!! Sky, my brother and I just skied/climbed Blum in a day on Sunday (as near as we could. We didn't tag the true, true summit though, but it wasn't skiable hellno3d.gif via our route). And here I thought that it was an easy mtn. I was humbled. There is nothing like schwacking 5k of pure north cascades forest in the dark, in the rain, in the fog, in the winter.

And oh, now I know how you resurrect old threads. I was just looking at this Dru smile.gif If anyone could make a 1000 posts in a day, you would be that man grin.gif
