Assuming that just one section of your pole bit the dust, you get a replacement section and re-string it yourself, or take it to REI and have them do it / send it off for you.

Don't know if the Portland REI has replacement sections to sell you - if not, head up to TA Enterprises (yeah, wonder who named that one), a tent pole supplier in Vancouver, WA, and get one. Bring your pole with you - there are about 6 different sizes, and you can't tell by looking at it.

And I don't recommend loosing your cherry - who knows what it would do on its own... shocked.gif

You should be able to pick up a pole splint at many outdoor stores (it's about 2-3" larger diameter tube...that slips on over the break...then duck tapped onto the pole). It makes for a longer pole after repaired if the break is at a joint. Can save $$ if you're into that...or outback and need something to get by with. Put a couple in your repair kit for future trips, especially on an expedition trip.

Works most of the time...
