Totally iced.

It's 14 degrees and snowing outside right now so I'm dreaming about cicles forming up soon. What are the most important ingredients for forming climbable ice? Obviously temperature and freeze-thaw cycles but how important is ground saturation, amount of snowpack, or even humidity. Or does it all depend on the specific location? And what forms the best pick-sucking ice? That comes in the spring usually but the sun can also dry stuff out. Maybe I'll should just get the hose out and hang it on a tree instead of waiting.
