In May of 2002, Jim Frush and his climbing partner made the first ascent of 6,192 meter Gaugiri in the Damador Himal of Nepal. This first ascent of a 6,000 meter peak is one of many first ascents of 6,000 meter peaks undertaken by Jim over the last 20 years of climbing in the Himalaya. Jim's slide show and discussion will cover not only the new peaks available under the new regulations adopted by the Nepalese government, but also the traditional Nepalese "trekking peaks" which have been available for some time but on which great opportunities exist. Jim Frush is now serving his third term as President of the American Alpine Club.
