McIntyre met his fellow terrorists at an animal rights rally in Port Jefferson, New York, in October 2000. They then downloaded instructions on how to carry out arson from an ELF web site.

I doubt you will find similar instructions on a NRA site.

John Allen Muhammed could have gotten marksmanship tips from the NRA....

Yeah WTF this is not about the ELF, this is about one guy. You want to take down ELF, fine, go ahead. I agree it is a threat to the establishment. Don't be a fucking ruthless pussy and give one guy an hugely unfair sentence just because the executive branch is too worthless to deal with a small, relatively benign little hippie activist group.

Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time.

According to the ELF, our Westernized way of life “comes at the expense of . . . the natural environment.” By seeking a safer, longer, happier life—by seeking more than a bare, primitive subsistence—mankind, they say, is guilty of crimes against nature. Accordingly, they wish “to inflict economic damage on those profiting from the destruction and exploitation of the natural environment"—hoping eventually ”to speed up the collapse of industry."

Eco-terrorists have consistently targeted these “exploiters"—from timber companies, to land developers, to science researchers. In the most notorious of their actions, in Vail, Colorado, in 1998, the ELF burned down part of a ski resort, causing $12 million in property damage. The attack was mounted, the group said, on behalf of the wildlife whose habitat was being ”trespassed" upon. Last year nine new homes in Phoenix were firebombed because they were deemed, by eco-terrorists, to be encroaching on . . . the natural desert. Two years ago, to protest the existence of Huntingdon Life Sciences, a British animal-research lab, “animal-liberationist” goons blew up several cars belonging to the firm’s employees, and severely beat the company’s managing director with baseball bats.

...and Hanibal Lecter could have gotten cooking tips from the Marth Stewart website... what is your point? The NRA didn't promote the illegal, violent behaviour that ELF did.

The inherent difference, is that the NRA never told their members to shoot someone in cold blood did they? No. ELF not only tells their follower to commit terrorist act, but they show them how. If you are still grasping at straws, you got a thicker skull than Rocky.

ELF has published a meticulous, 47-page report of its self-described illegal activities. The attacks are listed by region, date, tactics used and damage caused. There are even mock awards for the “most impressive” attacks and “most vehicles damaged in a single action.” To spur further violence, the group’s Web site offers a free illustrated manual on “Setting Fires With Electrical Timers” (along with advice on what to do if an FBI agent comes knocking).

There's your precious evidence.

If claims of responsibility are now intent, I guess the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigade is our biggest terrorist threat rolleyes.gifhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5087301/

Fairness is the cornerstone of our judicicial system. What is fair that a guy who burns property while trying to NOT HURT anyone is punished more than many murderers, rapists and other violent criminals.

Speaking of criminals, what kind of time did Bernie Ebbers or the other lying thiefs of his ilk who ruined many many peoples financial lifes get?

This isn't fair - thats the bottom line.

Bernie Ebbers is going on trial and so is Jeff Skilling. Andy Fastow got 10 years and Jamie Olis got 24 years. I am not saying I agree with the sentence in question, but deflecting the conversation to talk of other peoples' infractions doesn't do any good.
