AllYouCanEat Posted May 17, 2004 Share Posted May 17, 2004 First edition "snow sentitals of the northwest" (really cool book by hazard), the life of a western mountaineer (by CE Rusk, might have the book name slightly wrong), and a book on Sun Valley by oppenhiemer, signed (shows pictures of some cool skiing of skiers in the 50's or so). Â I also have a hard bound version of O.H. Bonney's Guide to Wyoming Mountain Ranges, which is a hard bound collection of all of his field books for each range in Wyoming. DCramer Posted May 18, 2004 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Anyone else with rare, oop or obscure guidebooks they would like to donate to me - send PM for address  Dru will of course forward any copies of Private Dancer to me.  While I was looking for old photos of Index I was at the house of an avid guidebook collector when he brought me into a spare room opened a safe an we spent a few hours looking at old guides and letters from some legends in American climbing describing FAs they had done or trying to sell their ideas for the coming season. It got me thinking how cheap phone calls, faxes, website and email having replaced traditional letters have in some ways destroyed history. (Editor) Manual of Ski Mountaineering Berkeley University Of California 1942 Â Three years ago I purchased a copy of this edition and to my surprise, and perhaps the sellers too, the book contained a typed note with UC Berkeley Press letterhead that is signed by David Brower. The letter thanks the doctor who authored the chapter on frostbite. I'm not sure but I think the Manual was used for training at Camp Hale in Pando, CO. Pretty neat imho.
