There are many caves near Mt. Adams - Cheese Caves, Dead Horse Caves, Dynamite, Ice, Pond II Cave, Slime Cave, Christmas Tree Cave, just to name a few.

There is a local, Portland area, caving group that regularly visits these caves to clean up trash and explore the caves.

This cave is easy to get to and fairly interesting: http://www.a2zgorge.info/area/GulerIceCaves.htm

Check with NSS for local grottos (caving clubs). Go to a meeting. Go cave with some of the harcore freaks and gain access to the local grotto's info repository including cavemaps, GPS coordinates of entrys, the combinations for gated/locked caves, etc.

Requisite horrible pun: It's an underground kinda scene.

Here is a picture from the one of the two caves I have been in, not very exciting except that it way off the deck, which is cool. Need to get up there againn and find the tunnel. The other is Goldmeyer hot spring a small cave with 104-110 degree water, very nice thumbs_up.gif

There is a local Seattle grotto; 2 of the guys on our trip into the Rainer steam caves are/were members.

The caves near Snoqualmie Pass sound fun, but limited in size compared to limestone caves in other parts of the country. But at least they seem tons better than lava tubes.

One of the guys was telling about a rescue the local grotto helped with when some military guys (on personal time) got stuck in a SnoPass cave without ascenders. Seems they were planning on 'hand over handing' it back up the rope and out of the cave, but it didn't work out for them. grin.gifgrin.gif
