Hey Mountie,

 

What is the fitness requirement for a basic class student?? I heard that they should be able to "hike Si in 2 hours with a 40 lbs pack". Is that correct? Do you administer a fitness test? Just curious.

 

There's no fitness requirement, and it's not a test. This is just a wake up call for new climbing students. They'll hike up a steep trail with a heavy pack and figure out it sucks to overheat. Most haven't had to do this before.
