WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

I want cheap skis

Recommended Posts

I busted a ski last night.

Anybody have something decent in 160cm to 175cm range?

Don't need fat, rad sidecut or bling 'cause I don't want

to spend much $$$.

Fern,

I have an old pair of Black Diamond Seracs in 180cm that have been mounted with Silvrettas but have never been skied on (the Silvrettas have been removed). I'll let them go for $125.00 OBO. It's a good lightweight ski for AT or downhill.

I've got a pair of top shelf Atomics (R11.20), 165cm going for $200. Not sure if that is "cheap" but they sell new for over a $1000. I'd love an excuse to ski up north too...

I've demoed those downhill skiing, great ski.

Hmmm, repairable in the right hands? Don't know how far gone yours are, Fern.

On the second day with a new pair of skis several years ago, I hit a hidden obstacle and ripped about the middle third of one edge off so that it was in a big "U". Also peeled off a big chunk of the base. Thought the skis were toast, but took it in to a local shop to confirm. The Tech guru there not only repaired the base with a new rectangular chunk of p-tex base, but got that edge reattached. Skied em in races and on ice and hardpack for several years after that. I recall it only cost about $35.
