Anyone know what conditions are usually like on the South Spur at that time of year? Figger_Eight Posted May 2, 2002 Share Posted May 2, 2002 There's more rock and dirt than snow. The snow will be firm in the morning, and mushy in the afternoon. You'll be camping in dirt. Gerg Posted May 2, 2002 Share Posted May 2, 2002 I've seen rocks poking through in sections of the bobsled runs as early as July. It will really depend on how long the snow lasts *duh*. pete_a Posted May 2, 2002 Share Posted May 2, 2002 I've done Adams in September before and the glissade runs are well established and more like toboggan runs. Bring some durable pants and a plastic bag and butt slide the whole south side of the mountain. The snow conditions are usually extremely suncupped and dirty, for the exception of the glissade paths, so I wouldn't think about bringing skis or a snowboard...it wouldn't be worth the weight.
