Leavenworth snowshoeing suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Nason Ridge

Icicle Ridge

Snow lakes trail

Mtn Home Road to Cannon Mtn

8 mile lake trail

Any one of these would be good. The snowpack is still lacking a bit but if you stay out of the rhubarb, you will be fine.

Stay off logging roads. The machines are out.

Lichtenwasser Lake, on Lichtenburg Mountain above the Smith Brook road just a few miles down the east side of Stevens Pass is pretty nice, and a summit climb is an option if the avalanche hazard isn't too great. Down closer to Leavenworth the trailheads are all pretty low so most of the time I'd look for a destination closer up to the pass.

the icicle gorge trail might be good depending on how close you can get to the trailhead

same would go for the 4th of july crk trail

tho you could access the icicle ridge trail all year...lotsa ele gain early on...but once on top..it is real nice!

It'd be a long hike from the Mountainhome Road to Cannon Mountain - though Wedge Mountain stands right above the Mountainhome road and the outlying North Peak of Cannon Mountain stands right above the Eightmile Road and can be reaced from the road extension beyond the summer trailhead for Mountaineer Creek.

Rock mountain just east of Stevens Pass. Pay attention to the avi-conditions though. Are you looking for a pleasant trip, or something with teeth?

We've snowshoed from the Icicle Ridge TR to the old lookout and down 4th of July trail - great trip if you can leave a car at the 4th of July TR.

Not the most unique idea, but my g/f and I snowshoed up Snow Lakes Trail last weekend; trail was broken most of the way, until Nada Lake, by ice climbers lookin' to check out the falls @ Nada lake. from there, we broke trail to upper Snow Lake (a little past the dam), before we ran out of time, and had to head back. Hoped to make it to Lake Viviane (sp?), but breaking trail in that powder kinda wore us out. Beautiful up there (duh), and much less crowded (ya think?), and good camping. Man, the weather was beautiful smirk.gif
