WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Kennedy Hot Spring GONE!

Recommended Posts

According to this KING5 news story, "The popular Kennedy hot springs and the historic cabin are no longer there" after the recent floods. Anyone have any more specifics about this?

What was so cool about that place anyway?

The only thing I can remember about the place is that it was filled with naked old people and pubic hairs apparently floating in the water. Puke!!

Glad to have never gone in there. hellno3d.gif

Hi Tele_nut, welcome to cc.com!

RE: Kenedy Hot Springs:

Yeah, Klenke let us know about that in the "Road Closures" thread in the North Cascades forum.

That is the most disgusting hot spring I have ever seen. The color and consistency of diarrhea, terrible smell, and last time I was there a small dead frog was bobbing around in the "water".

Good riddance.

Yes, the loss of kennedy hot springs is a good change for that area in my opinion. It wasn't even very hot; luke warm at best. It was also brown, and as previously mentioned, full of some pretty disgusting people.

Those disgusting people are called "local color," JoshK. Did they get in the way of your speed ascent or something? I agree that the springs were not one of Washington's finest, but I didn't see much harm in the fact that some people thought it was worth the five mile hike to soak in dirty brown luke warm water and camp somewhere where I had no interest in camping in the first place. On a couple of Spring ski trips, I actually found the springs clean enough (or apparently so) that I took a dip.

Well, local color or not, the trash they often left wasn't very cool. I also tend to think a giant wooden box of muddy water isn't the first thing I want to see in the wilderness. I think the whitechuck river gave the "hot springs" exactly what it deserved. smile.gif

According to some hiking site, here's a pic of what the hotsprings look like now:

HOLY CRAP! I always knew the whitechuck flowed very quick, but that is pretty amazing.

The only time I've been there, it had two naked scandinavian-looking girls in it (and their boyfriends/husbands frown.gif )

Hey TTT!

yelrotflmao.gif

I see that Boogersling has also changed his location from the uber-classic "Yo Momma's House" to the lame and vulgar "Between Yo Momma's Legs".

Dru, you're so needy. cry.gif

Veggie's photo is linked externally, so he can't do that as easily as you can with your photos, so I forgive him. boxing_smiley.gif

I'll be laughing when someone confirms that the dirty old man naked haven is gone.

I shouldn't have to be subjected to viewing perverts walking around naked in nature, and then shedding pubic hairs and scum in a hot spring naked. Every time there is a hot spring people like that come out of the woodwork with the idea that they have a license to bare their fat old bodies in front of anyone passing by.

Good riddens wave.gif

I soaked in the spring once after summitting Glacier, and the three non-climbers present, one of whom was a micro-brewer from Anacortes, nicely shared a big bottle of the latest brew with me. The company was more pleasant than many a contact with strangers in the backcountry.
