drl
I heard that some people pay for help carrying loads to Camp Muir. Does anyone know about this?
vegetablebelay
I think a better approach would be to simply say you're willing to porter or you're looking for a porter.

drl
I guess the answer is NO. No one has heard of this portering.
drl
Excuse me. I have heard of it, but the guy who told me knows nothing else.
catbirdseat
What's the going rate? I could use some pocket money and the exercise would do me good.
olyclimber
My name is Porter, and I object to my name being associated with work. And I'm not carrying your load up to Muir. Do it yourself.
Dan_Harris
I like to drink porter, but not at work. Usually with pizza.
bchaps
In the Tetons (if i remember correctly), Exum pays porters $100 per load to the upper saddle. What a great way to finance the summer at the climbers ranch! I doubt if rmi does this, as they probably have their jr guides do it. Â why all the way to the upper saddle, would think they'd drop loads at the lower??
klenke
You're right, that chap bchaps probably meant the Lower Saddle. I've made that mistake more than once in describing the place as Upper. There is no reason to porter supplies up to the Upper Saddle. Not the best place to camp (though certainly not impossible).
