WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Greg, ya'll are free to think whatever you want. Thinking is great, I encourage you to do more of it. But you're not necessarily free to say it here.

Add to the myth, say he was a seventh son too...

Greg -

As much as some of the right thinking people around here may be surprised to hear this, I consider myself irreverant and I do not like politically correct dogmatists. Thus, I will sometimes use certain offensive words which refer to mean spirited persons of the female gender, or refer to racial stereo-types or make jokes that are in "bad taste" of whatever - in private conversations where I believe my remarks are not going to be misunderstood as anything more than irreverent banter. However, there is a difference between that and posting the same comments on a public bulletin board. I think it has been a long time since, in Seattle at least, public expressions of racial hatred have been generally considered acceptable. To borrow a line from some of those who post from the right, if you don't like it you can find another bulletin board (referring to those who keep saying that if you don't like America, you should move to Iran or whatever).

I enjoyed Sisu's racist joke, but that does not mean I think it belongs here.

I feel that it was inappropriate to delete Trask's list of offensive terminology. Now, I have no racism barometer with which to gauge my actions.

Rat Patrol

We could use those men in tan.

You say what do we know.

Whoah oh oh oh oh oh.

Whoah oh oh oh oh oh.

What do we need to take control

We could use the rat patrol

What's that coming over the dune?

Yea well that's what we know

Whoah oh oh oh oh oh.

Whoah oh oh oh oh oh

Chasing them halftracks

Across the sand flats.

Got a nice pine box for that desert fox.

Machine guns blaring

And Arabs staring

Wondering why the Westerners are there.

It's the same old story

And it never ends. It'll happen again. Whoah oh oh oh oh......

minx, I think that the more "thoughtful" of us realized that there is little upside to sticking our necks out on this subject, and a whoooole lotta downside. One man's belly-laugh is another's indignation.

I disagree, actually; by it's very nature, any decision made (or not made) would be independent if one was the last person on earth. Even the decision to not make a decision right away is an independent decision if you are all alone in the world.

It's so obvious, how could you have missed it?

Surf Combat

Staring at the lifeguards

Hear mommy scream

I ain't got no morals

It's a bloody wayout dream

The noon-day sun makes you want to kill

Mining all beaches

Flying hands and feet

Poison in your Thermos

Is no fun but discreet

Muscle Beach is now Pork Chop Hill

Barbecuring babies

Shish-kabob bikinis

Napalm makes you vomit

As it sizzles off your weenie

Surf combat

Glad offwhite did act, unilaterally or not. That was a bunch of BS. Sisu, you certainly have a myopic view of the world.

Fuck you, too!

screw that! i'm not stickin my neck out. i'm callin it like i see it on a subject that seems so obvious to me that there's no way i see it as a risk. maybe the joke was funny, maybe it wasn't. it was however mean and innappropriate. if pointing that out is sticking my neck out then the things need to change wave.gif

I Don't Know

Listen now to what I say

About the kids of today

Subscribe to them all your fears

'Til they become like you

What poor gods we do make (x4)

I don't know (x4)

So listen now to what I say

About the kids of today

Subscribe to them all your fears

'Til they become like you

Teach them all your fallacies

Contain them in reality

Subscribe to them all your fears

'Til they become like you

Then a slippage happens

In your ranks

And causes all... your morals sank

For us to create our own

And we became like you

What poor gods we do make
