IBesides - there are quite a few mini-vans, a number of sedans (Cady's et al) and a whole slew of sports cars that get mileage that's every bit as poor as many of the SUV's out there....

You'd be hard pressed to find a car that's as big of a danger to other drivers as a suxpidition, slugburban, nadgrator, etc.

Yeah - size matters in this respect, but the main thing that makes a vehicle dangerous is the person behind the wheel, not the size. Beyond a certain point, additional regs are in order, though. Like if you drive a semi for instance.

If you actually need a rig - you're a contractor, bang nails for a living or such, -then you actually use the rig. It you have the macho-mobile to go pick up you're kids from school then you deserve to be humiliated with a sticker. I tagged ten shiny, never-seen-mud giants at REI this weekend.

This is the most passive-aggressive, sorriest shit I've read in awhile. thumbs_down.gifhellno3d.gif Move to a socialist country, ya puke. Meanwhile, I hope one of the victims of your vandalism catches you in the act. boxing_smiley.gifsmileysex5.gif

there's a proven correlation between safety features and poor driving.

the best way to make people drive safe is to make it obvious they are gonna die if they crash. no air bags. no seat belts. put a big sharp spike in the middle of the wheel with the point pointing right at the driver's heartt. they'll drive safe then.

No one said it was a gag. Just that it would incite the usual reactionary narratives from the folks who are a bit too sensitive about driving their Tahoes around the shopping malls(?). It's free enterprise at it's best, you buy 'em I'll sticker them!!

I have tried many and the Land Rover Discovery is the best of both worlds. Unfortunatley the people buying them don't take them off road. These vehicles are made for off road abuse but they are a great ride at 70 down the freeway. Con's- a little thirsty about 14-17 and you have to use Super, the only dealer's are Seattle, Bellevue, Spokane, and Tacoma. Pro's- Great ground clearance, great ride on and off road, permanent four wheel drive, solid, and very safe in crashes. That my 1 peso..... rockband.gif

SOMETHING I JUST LEARNED WITH THE PUGET SOUND LAND ROVER DEALERS IS THAT THEY MAKE UP THEIR SERVICE AND PARTS AROUND 500% ABOVE MSRP. I KNOW I KNOW ALL DEALER SHIPS DO THIS. BUT AN AUDIT SHOWED THE PORTLAND AND VANCOUVER BC DEALERS DID NOT.

ALL CARS SUCK!

they should just make land mines which detonate at a certain weight (like the exact weight of a Subaru) and leave them in the highway fast-lane. rolleyes.gif

See, you Canadians just don't understand. Around here, you get a tax rebate if your rig is big and heavy enough!

"Hybrids qualify for a tax credit of a few thousand dollars. In contrast, deductions of up to $25,000 are available to those who purchase SUVs weighing more than 6,000 pounds. The Hummer is one of 38 SUVs that qualify for this ludicrous loophole..."

Personally, the stupidist vehicle I've seen is a Hummer with those low-profile tires like you sometimes see on tricked-out Civics. That thing looks like it would bottom out on a speed bump, but it wastes lots of gas, and gets lots of attention (it got mine, anyhow) and I guess that's what's important.

I just spent 2 months doing research on that very topic. I narrowed the field to the undisputed best built SUV's EVER.

The Land Rover Discovery and the Toyota Land Cruiser. I found that the LC was more reliable and had a better re-sale value than the Disco. I have driven both on many occasions and I also found the LC to be a bit more stable in the tight turns. Although both are exceptional at off-roading. Both have full time 4wd and differential locks with 2 ranges. In the Disco I drove it on 35 degree angles sideways and it also has excellent clearance. The LC has around 8.5-9 inches of clearance and can cross water up to its headlights with no problem, and can drive over railroad tie sized bumps with out spilling you beer....I MEAN LATTE.

My budget allowed me to get a 1991 FJ80 LC, It is an excellent truck. It does get poor gas mileage but that is expected. The only other pitfall of the 1991 to 1992 LC is the 155 BHP 3FE L-6. In 1993 they upgraded to a 215 BHP 1FZE L-6. Which is actually more HP than the Disco's V-8. Gas mileage is similar but you will obviously pay more. Other upgrades in the 1993-1994 models include ABS and Full Disc breaks (which the disco comes with standard). The Disco seats 5 and 7 with the center facing rear seat package. The LC seats 5 and 8 with the forward facing rear seat package. The discovery is a SUV built for the city driver, and it can go off road very well. The Land Cruiser pre 1995 was built for off road, and it could be driven in the city. I have lots of other info on this and on the 4 runner and how it was changed over the years. I also have safety stats. For instance if I had a family I would not get a pre 1994 4runner (death traps). And the LC has one of the best roll over ratings of all SUV's world wide. So if you want more info contact me I would be happy to share.

good luck

Kyle

I think that anyone that believes in this cause enough to deface someone else's property to promote it should be man enough to plaster these stickers on the rigs right in front of the owners.

I'm in favor of energy conservation for a number of reasons, and practice what I preach by riding my bike to work at least 4-days a week, etc, etc - but I still think that skulking around an plastering these things one someone else's car because you don't approve of their choice of vehicles is about as dickless as it gets. How do you know whether they need or not, or in what capacity they use it? Moreover, what gives you the right to tell them what is and is not an acceptable vehicle for them? Vote for politicians that are in favor of imposing higher fuel efficiency requirements if that's what you want, but if the government says a car is legal you've got no business defacing it IMO.

Number one, fuck that; this is about as minor as "vandalism" gets. Two minutes with a razor blade, and the sticker is off (although if people really wanna do a non-offensive job, the window IS the best place for it). Plus, it's a fun and subversive way to spread a message and make a point, and anyone that isn't into a little bit of fun subversion is, to employ the right-wing idiom, "a pussy." Number two, what makes you think people who would do something like this don't already do things like vote for pro-gas-mileage restriction politicians, etc.? Just because people are interested in pursuing minorly illegal avenues to further their agenda doesn't mean they haven't explored the legal options as well.
