Mountain Biking through Madagascar

An evening with international bicycling adventurer and photographer, Marlin Peterson

Thursday, February 20, 2003, 7:00PM

Join us for an evening with adventurer, Marlin Peterson, as he recounts his three-month bicycle traverse of the strange and fascinating country of Madagascar. After splitting away from the eastern coast of Africa 165 million years ago, Madagascar has basically evolved as a separate mini-continent, containing some of the most unique and remarkable vegetation and animal life on earth, including most of the world’s Lemur and Chameleon species. Marlin’s “bike-packing” trip had him crossing an extreme variation of terrain, including stark deserts, red soiled highlands, lush tropical jungles, and arid coastlines. Don’t miss this beautiful, yet very unusual presentation, as it will be shown in 3D-slide imagery (Polarized glasses will be provided at the show). It’s almost like being there!

Marlin Peterson is a native of the Puget Sound region. He has done extensive traveling in the past seven years, having visited more than 40 countries, and “bike-packed” through many of them, including Central Asia and Ethiopia.

Cost, as always, is free and light refreshments will be served.

Hope to see you there!
