WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Camp possibilities on Easton Glacier

Recommended Posts

I would like to camp a little higher than Sandy Camp on Mt. Baker's Easton Glacier route..  The topo suggests low angle terrain above 7200 ft, NE of Sandy, that might be conducive to a campsite (X on attached map). Any ideas? Thanks.

Just got back Saturday from climbing Easton route and camped at about 6000.  There were parties camped much higher and there is plenty of flat areas you could choose to bivy as you head up the glacier.

that glacier has many flatish places to camp as you go up.  just use common sense about camp location.  (covered crevasses and ice fall from above)  Haven't been up there this year but I don't remember any large hanging death blocks on route.   prolly a good idea to camp some yards away from bootpack track and probe out your camp spot looking for covered bridges.  I wouldn't trust the fact that it is level to negate the crevasse potential.
