  2. Only the boots left $100 Backcountry ski setup $600 Salomon MTN Explore 95 184cm skis Market Kingpin 13 bindings Kingpin crampons Black Diamond climbing skins Black Diamond poles Scarps Maestrale boots I believe they are 29.5 I wear a size 12 and I mostly wear Salomon footwear, for sizing comparison I used these for the last 4 years. I am a boarded but I bought this setup to teach my girls to ski and I had hopes of getting into ski mountaineering. They’ve been used gently inbounds with one Hood ascent/descent. I’d like to sell as a package, but I would consider offers on separate pieces too. 971-645-9112 located Portland
  3. 2 Black Diamond Viper Ice Tools for sale (1 year old) - one has been used for 1 day of water ice climbing (like new condition) and the other has also been used for 2-3 alpine climbs (good condition). Asking $300 for both (retail is $259 each).
  4. Good condition Sony A5100 with the trimmings. To the best of my knowledge everything works as it should and there's no mechanical damage. The zoom lenses focus smoothly and freely, no damage to any of the glass. Feel free to ask questions and I will provide detail shots on request. Not splitting anything out at this time. Glass: 16-50mm OSS. 55-210mm telephoto w/ sunshade. 2.8/20 wide angle Cosmetic damage on the camera body and lenses, but it's 5 years old and primarily used on travel and climbing trips so it's as you'd expect. There's some scratches on the display (see photo) but no damage to the LCD and it's hardly noticeable when the display is on. $600 Shipped to lower 48. Price includes everything shown in photo. UV and polarizing filter, 3 soft/semi-soft cases, 2 batteries and minipod.
  5. I have two one-gallon cans of Coleman fuel that I don't need anymore (fireballs anyone?). I don't want to simply dump them. If anyone can use them for mountaineering fuel, let me know. NE Portland, Oregon. Cheers, tim.kutscha@gmail.com
  6. Not much used rope bag. I'll take what it costs to ship it, about $15. Free if you pick it up. I'm in Seattle. Yellow and grey. text me at: 9one-four. 58four - 38zero-five. https://www.rei.com/product/871096/petzl-bolsa-rope-bag
  7. Got it from a friend and I've never used it. I don't know if it's ever even been placed. Measures out to the large size (7 x 10.75"). Yours for $10 in Fremont. Like this: https://www.msrgear.com/snow-tools/snow-anchors/snow-fluke/snow-fluke.html
  8. Arc'teryx Bora 80 backpack, size Regular (18-21" torso), 77 Liters. Excellent condition! I bought this pack shortly after getting into mountaineering, around 2009. I only used it on a few trips over a couple years before I realized it was just too large for my needs. I've held onto it because it's an awesome pack, but I haven't used it in years so I think it's time clear some space in the gear closet. $300 OBO Located near Seattle.
  9. Brand new TC Pros. Only worn once. Size $39 $140 I am located north of Seattle, but can ship them if necessary. 541-556-0189 Danielle
  10. Clearing out room in my garage and this treasured relic must go. This is a 1996 edition Bighorn pack, handmade in Bozeman, size L-XL, very much sized for tall dudes. I have a 22" torso and it fits me perfectly. This is the most comfortable pack I have ever owned (and I've had more than I can count). It had better be, because it weighs 6 pounds empty. It's worn, it's beat, it ain't pretty, but it has lots of life left. All hardware present, intact, and functioning perfectly. Volume is about 4,000 cubic inches, it has 2 ice axe loops, top and panel loading design, and a versatile integrated compression panel for your shovel, helmet, snowboard, whatever. I've worn this to the summits of Rainier, Mont Blanc, and more peaks than I can recall. It even comes with nifty Arc'teryx ice axe keepers. Here's the deal: Price is free Pickup in Seattle I don't want this to go to a collector or to some lame-o who will sell it on ebay to monetize its historical value. Send me an email (njbratton AT hotmail DOT com) with a 150-word essay describing your favorite alpine climb and why a heavy, 24-year old climbing pack will improve your mountaineering experience. Most compelling and creative essay gets it.
  11. Fabiano has long been associated with Scarpa. According to commentary on Trailspace in March 2007: "Fabiano started as an outgrowth of a shoe repair shop in Boston. The founder was an Italian immigrant bootmaker. He designed a series of boots, mostly leather, that were fabricated to his specifications in Italy, by Scarpa." Features: A vintage pair of hiking boots with light use. – Midweight boot with just a little flex by hand at the ball of the foot. - 1 piece all leather suede upper with a glove leather lining. The uppers are without scratches, digs or wear and look in “mint” condition. They haven’t even been “Snow Sealed”. – Littleway sole attachment with the heels glued and screwed from Scarpa. - At the toe, the sole was slightly separated but felt solid. I couldn't pry it open further just with my hands. To be on the safe side and certain of longevity, taking direction from Steve Komito, local Estes Park, CO boot repairman and climbing shoe re-soler, the tips of the soles have been glued and screwed. In the photo's, you will see that I decided not to wipe off the adhesive that was squeezed out as the screws were tightened. I feel that this further reinforces the repair. Adhesive was also applied to the screws to prevent loosening. – Alps Fabiano Extra lug soles with possibly 75% remaining life. Boots may be resoled. – The boots stitching and the lacing hooks are in excellent shape. - The leather lined interior is not dried up and cracking. - Weight is 3lbs 5oz a pair. Asking $65.00 shipped. Paypal or Venmo means of payment.
  12. Norman Clyde of the Sierra Nevada, Rambles Through the Range of Light - Norman Clyde - Scrimshaw Press, San Francisco, 1971 - A very good copy. A 3/8" wide, faint sunning of the top front and back, and along the binding due to shelf position. An inscription by the former owner is in between the cover and first page. Otherwise, solid binding, no dog earing or torn pages. Asking $45.00. Paypal and Venmo means of payment 0
  13. ACR ResQLink Personal locator beacon. Basically a satellite "oh shit" button. In good condition, has sat in the bottom of my pack and only been tested. The battery needs replacement, but there are local shops that can do that for you (Fusion Marine and Marine Safety Services Seattle). This costs $150 + tax through MSS. You can also purchase a battery online for $40 and do the repair yourself. I upgraded to an inReach and no longer need it. You can re-register it with NOAA in your name. Originally purchased at REI, costs $300 new Asking price: $50, saving you at least $100 over a new device. Email kamdh@uw.edu for fastest response
  14. Purchased this pair of Lowa Mountain Expert GTX EVO boots three years ago, used them once to climb Adams and now they collect dust. Excellent condition. These are men's size 10.5 US, 44 EU. Time to let someone else have some fun. Asking $150. Located in NE Portland, Oregon. Contact tim.kutscha@gmail.com for more info.
  15. Mammut Spindrift Guide 45L backpack asking $60 A ski mountaineering specific pack. Good size for overnights and longer, or can be stripped down for technical day trips. Easily carries camping, glacier, and snow safety gear. Probably closer to 60L when fully stuffed but carries okay when less than full. Features: removable metal frame (can replace with a foam pad for lighter weight and more versatility), shovel/probe pouch, side zip access, zippered hip pouch, gear loops, rope carrier strap, side compression straps. Clip ice tool carry works with modern tools and allows easy access while wearing the pack. Carries skis in a-frame and diagonal configurations. Probably could carry a splitboard, but I'm not sure. Modifications: added a bungee crampon carrier, cut off the brain so that it can be optionally removed. It's a nice pack that I've taken up a bunch of peaks. In fair condition. Some stitching is getting loose in non-critical areas but could be repaired. Email kamdh@uw.edu for fastest response. I'm in Fremont, Seattle.
  16. Kayland mountaineering boots size 13/Euro 47 (I think, but the tag has worn off) asking $80 I'm not sure the exact model, but I think they are an older version of the apex rock: https://www.kayland.com/en/shop-en/mountaineering/apex-rock-gtx-black-lime.html These are a nice weight boot for volcanoes and other snowy Cascade peaks in Spring-Summer-Fall conditions. Work well with semi-automatic crampons (heel clip) or straps, but no toe welt for fully automatic crampons. There is a waterproof e-Vent membrane that still works. They are in good shape and were resoled once. For whatever reason, my feet have gotten bigger, even though I'm in my 30s, and they no longer fit. I can't deal with tight boots any more. Available for pickup in Fremont neighborhood of Seattle or possibly elsewhere in the greater area. Email kamdh@uw.edu for fastest response. Thanks

  22. Plus shipping cost - Gregory Cassin Internal Frame Pack - Top loading, multi day expedition pack. The Cassin was in production from 1987 through 1991 and was the predecessor to the Denali Pro. Up for sale is the final production model with 2 side entry zippers on the main compartment supplementing content access. The pack is in excellent, lightly used condition. There are no cuts, holes, loose stitching or prominent worn areas with one exception: The polyurethane coating was peeling so all was cleanly removed and I'm including a new Gregory pack rain cover. Features: - 6, 550 cubic inches, 110 liters capacity for the size large. - Pack and hipbelt are a size large. Fits torso length approximately 18 - 21 inches. Padded section of hip belt measurement is 34 inches. Add about 11 inches for the adjustable webbing sections. - 8 ounce pack cloth, #10 YKK heavy duty zippers. A robust, rugged pack. Very durably constructed albeit heavy by today's standards. Weighs in at 6 lbs, 10 oz. Ray Jardine's concepts in lightening pack weight were introduced around 1983 but the 2 design concepts continued to exist side by side for years with present day adherents of each. Large load haulers are needed for extended treks without resupply, trail crews and for restocking back country huts. - Suspension is 2 internal contoured aluminum stays and padded back panel. Dense foam padded ergonomic hipbelt. – Huge top lid pocket ((887 cubic inches), a main body and zippered lower sleeping bag compartment. Lid converts to a fanny pack or can be left behind for reduced weight. Side entry zippers on the main compartment. The top lid panel has lashing points for attaching crampons. – Extension/sealing skirt. - Included are 2 large, about 700 cubic inch each detachable accessory water/fuel bottle pockets and 2 removable front pockets that piggyback. 1 of nylon pack cloth the other mainly of mesh. These add more cubic inches to pack volume. Use with or without as needed. – Ice axe loops. - Side compression straps - Blue with a slightly purplish tint. Now asking $65.00. Was $110.00. The packs condition, with the exception of the coating separation, is on par with the best of vintage packs I have seen. Many years of use ahead for this pack. No.............. Yes............ 1
  23. Early Winters vintage bivouac sack. Made in Seattle. The company used an early Goretex fabric for the canopy that had a fuzzy interior surface much like Bibler Todd Tex and the purpose was to dissipate body moisture. - I washed it, removed the the crusty old seam sealant and resealed the seams (required 1&3/4 tubes of Seam Grip), applied dabs of Seam Grip here and there and added Velcro to the hood. - The blue panels were added by the original owner. Under each are several dime sized or smaller spots of wear on the moisture dissipating fuzz and in places into the Gore. Not extensive wear and the owner opted to add the panels which cover a much broader area rather then patching each individual spot beneath. While functional, the panels seem also to bespeak of a creative mind and may be thought of as retro cosmetic. – Polyurethane coated ripstop nylon fabric on the ground side. – No zipper but its a fairly roomy slide in. – 1 lb 4 oz, size large. A generously sized bivy sack that will accommodate winter bags. – Although all the seams are resealed, I can’t vouch for its absolute ability to be waterproof in heavy prolonged rain. I was once stuck in a desert canyon overnight and it repelled intermittent sprinkling through the night. Rain coming in a day or so for a serious test of protection. 4/24 Update: Set the bivy out with rain overnight. Puddling on the surface this AM. The Goretex repelled the water well but the coated nylon on the underside was damp to slightly wet in places. Coating looks good so may be a low PSI rating or just old. I have decided that a fresh application of polyurethane over the entire bottom is needed and will be using McNett Recoat. 4/26 Update: Today I applied a coat of McNett Recoat. Restored, clean condition. All area's of wear have been addressed with either dabs of seam grip or the panels. Asking $115.00. Or Estes Park pickup for $105.00. *Note: Not certain but ‘Early Winters may have been the first company to use Gore-Tex (brand name!) in outdoor products. ByroTex, Todd Tex, Integral Tex and Gore Tex are all the same material; expanded polytetrafluorethylene. Gore Tex no longer licenses its material for use in tents, thus the non proprietary versions in the various single wall tent manufacturers’. (Courtesy of Excitable Boy) Shown with a Western Mountaineering Summerlite inside and a huge pillow at the head.

Step-in crampons compatible, full grain leather and insulated with Thinsulate. Sufficiently rigid for moderate ice, snow couloirs, icy rock gullies and glacier ascents. Backpacking with heavy loads over rough terrain. Very dark Snow Sealed green. - Size US 9, Eur 42.5. - Vibram deep lug sole. - Cambrelle lining that is without wear. - Weight is 4lbs 5oz for the pair. Already been to the summit of Mt. Rainier.
