  1. As the season kicks off use this thread to post ice conditions, photos, and beta for Winter 2019-2020.
  2. I have permits for the XC zones for challenger and Luna June 15-21. Was planning to head up to challenger arm via Wiley/Eiley ridge specifically for photography, in particular astrophotography of the Milky Way over Luna if the weather cooperates; hopefully make my way across Luna cirque to do the same for the southern pickets from Luna Col. I might scramble Luna if I’m feeling strong after hauling all my camera gear around. I haven’t been up there, any knowledge if the log jam bridge survived the winter or other changes/obstacles I should look out for? here’s a random picture of a past outing just to make this more exciting than a bunch of text
  3. Mostly clear all the way to 8 mile TH (small amount of snow at mile 6), 3:00 rock has typical snow ramp at base. A small sinkhole has developed near the TH, but should be a relatively easy fix. Squire Creek on the other hand reportedly has a washout 1/2 mile prior to previous years parking lot... M. Hanna
  4. Heading out for middle sister in two weeks via Pole Creek. I know its late season. Trying assess whether travel on hayden glacier makes any sense, or if its best to stay to the right of the glacier.
  5. Mostly curious about the "terrible traverse" and "bowling alley" section of north sister. Want to know if there is still snow in that section, so I can decide whether I'll need crampons/ ice axe or not. If anyone has been up there recently or has an idea of conditions please let me know! Looking to be up there on Saturday.
  6. Use this thread to post ice conditions, photos, and beta for Winter 2018-2019.
  7. Hi all, Anyone been on Rainier recently? A buddy and I are gonna try to squeeze in a Liberty Ridge climb (up Lib Ridge, ski down the Emmons) in the next couple weeks (shooting for sometime before May 13th). I know it's still early season, but I was wondering if anyone had been up that way recently? I saw the aerial photo up on the Rainier Climbing blog, but haven't found much beyond that. Thanks for any conditions beta!
  8. Hi All, I'm doing a mixed route in the area on Friday, and wondering if I should extend my trip to Saturday for some ice. Given the recent conditions, it seems dismal. With the coming weather this week, how do we feel about ice climbing this weekend? Thanks much!
  9. This is what is to be had on the Eliot right now. Have at it.
