  1. I am a new trad leader and looking at possibly spending some time at Farside. I've been climbing at Ozone a bit and found that many of the cracks need some serious weeding. Do I need to bring a machete to farside or will I be able to find sub 5.10 routes that are in good shape? -Eric
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm looking to find some more regular climbing partners to hit the crags with this year. I have only been climbing about a year but I have come a long way in that time. I have taken formal classes on anchor construction and climbing technique as well as having read numerous books on these topics. I'm not stating that I know everything about climbing because that's far from the truth. I just want to convey that I am a safe and competent climber that can think for himself. As for my climbing ability, I have followed many sport, trad, and multi-pitch routes. I will admit that I need to start leading more and really want to work on my lead head with a safe and patient partner. Last summer I was following 10+ to 11- routes that suited my style of climbing and pure crack climbs around the 9 to 10- area. I have spent this winter bouldering approximately 2-3 times a week around the V5 level and find that I'm much stronger than last year. I'm not so much concerned with what grade you climb as long as you're safe and not high strung. Anyway, if there's anything else you want to know or just want to talk climbing over a beer, shoot me a message. -Eric
  3. Bump for a safe and mostly sane climbing partner.
  4. Hi all, I'm fairly new to the sport and looking to meet some more people that are interested in climbing at some of the local crags. I'm pretty easy to get along with and have a solid understanding of the fundamentals so you won't have to carry me in that regard. I would say that my 'technical expertise' has surpassed my climbing ability at this point, which I think is to be expected. I have led up to 5.8 and followed up to 5.10a if that makes much of a difference to you. Most of it has been clipping bolts but I've cleaned a few trad routes and really enjoyed that. Anyway, I prefer to climb midweek to avoid crowds since I have that time available but won't pass up a Saturday if that's all we can work out. If you have any questions or are interested in getting out in the near future, shoot me a message. -Eric
  5. I’m looking for a safe and experienced climber that, hopefully, is in need of a regular partner. I am definitely still a beginner but I have learned a lot since I have started climbing. Over the last few months I have attended formal classes covering movement, belaying, rappelling, and other basic skills. This past weekend, I attended a two day seminar that included 16 hours of one-on-one instruction consisting of anchor construction, grigri’s, and basically everything needed to set out on our own TR’ing trips. Most of my experience has been with indoor bouldering where I am fairly consistently sending V2’s and working some V3’s. I have done enough top roping indoors to be comfortable belaying safely with multiple devices. My first ever trip to the crag was this last weekend (Broughton), where I sent a 5.10 followed by a 5.9 which I was quite proud of. Neither of those routes seemed like they were really out of my ability so my hope is that I will be able to consistently climb at that level. Eventually, I want to gain the skills needed to start leading climbs, and someday even tackle trad climbing, so if you’re already doing these things I’m definitely interested in learning from you and cleaning routes. Also, I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule this summer and I own everything I should need for climbing, minus a rope. If there's anything else you'd like to know shoot me a message.
