  1. Turns out I'll be in town for a while yet... 503-410-409zero EDIT- number corrected... my bad.
  2. Yo Bought these off a dude yesterday, but decided to go a different route. Would make a great mixed 'pon, converted to mono (what I was gonna do). Front points have a wee bit of wear, but nothing compared to what you're gonna do to 'em on your first mixed climb. Great shape otherwise. No plates Looking fer exactly what I got 'em for - $100 Local pickup/meetup prefered... Portland metro area until Thursday, then I'll be in Bend for a couple weeks.
  3. Word.. I've been using the same black bungee shit, still going strong after 6 or so climbs. I tried cord, and found it too big of a pain in the ass to get cinched just right. When bungee works great, anyway.
  4. Looking for some used but not trashed monopoints. Would prefer non-fully rigids, but would definitely prefer replaceable points.... so some Stingers or Rambo 4s would be rad. Dart or Stinger fronts only would also be rad... I have plenty of other pons, and it's easy to swap heals. Thanks -Ben
  5. I went to the doctor the other day for a problem I was having. About thirty seconds into the exam she stopped and suddenly declared, with finality, "you need to stop masturbating." I was shocked, and bothered... I said, "why?" She said, "Because I'm trying to examine you."
  6. Nicky... when are we going to perforate some ice together?? Forecast looks so incredibly awesome this week... I can't play, but you better get on something rad.
  7. It looks pretty dry, but given the volume and quality of the ice all over the rest of the mountain, I have to wonder if maybe it isn't actually in about as good a condition as it can be... what if all that frozen water that IS up there is just straight up fat bomber ice??
  8. Reid was in prime condition... firm snow to plastic ice all the way up. Here's yer eye-candy...
  9. Reid was an absolute shooting gallery on the 3rd. I've never seen so much shit coming down. Absolute literal avalanches of ice flooding through the constrictions every 10-15 minutes. Just enough time to race through and get off to the side. La Montagne was very sheddy this weekend. Great pics.. Glad you guys survived
  10. somebody should put a hinged, latched, wooden door on the hut.
  11. The line I've planned to do is the wide, steep couloir (if it can be called that) that runs straight up the inside of the cleaver on the west side... just on the other side of the cleaver from Right Gully, in other words. Is this not the common route? Looking at it again today, it would be about 50' of traversing/climbing straight out from the col... not hard at all, just steep and exposed
  12. I finally just went ahead and dropped the coin.. Jones Solution 158, Spark R&D Blaze LT, Voile twin heels and pucks, still need to get some skins... probably just grab a pair of G3 splitboard skins when they come in stock at Mountain Shop. As far as I can tell, this is a super all-around setup. There's a hell of a lot of options and a big lack of readily available information on the webz. I rap with guys at the shop and dudes I see sporting splits on the mountain, but everyone's got a different opinion about stuff. Right now I'm just trying to figure out what's going to stiffen up my BC setup. I catch my edges a lot and crash at weird times. I can cook hard and be fine, but as soon as I slow down and stand up and relax, I catch an edge and eat shit in a most awkward and surprising way. I probably just need more practice, is all.
  13. Was out playing in the snow all day yesterday with my Summitrocket 30 skinning around and hotdogging (crashing) at T-line... today, packing for a climb, trying to strap my tools to the pack, I discover BOTH the ice-tool bungees are fucking GONE. Having noticed how easily they would vanish if left un-hooked, I have made sure to keep them hooked... but it's literally just a fucking hook, and apparently in all my crashing and trashing around in the crustyslush yesterday, BOTH came unhooked and flew off. Stupid ass design. Guess I'll use bread twists for this climb.
  14. So is there anything fun below the col? Would this be a more pleasurable variation? I don't seem to despise traversing as much as some guys.. little awkwardness can be totally worth it to increase route quality
  15. 4 or 3 season? I grabbed a Rab Summit Superlite from a member here this summer and it's the shit, for a super light single wall 4-season tent. 3 and some change in weight, no frills- single wall, no vestibule, no mesh, no windows, 2 polls and you can erect it (heh heh heh heh) from the inside. Seam-taped eVent with a PU tub floor means waterproof and super breathable. I haven't yet had it in killer wind, but I have no doubt, fully guyed, it'll do just fine.
  16. Howdy So below the final few pitches of the route, what's there? From what I've beta'd from the Cathedral Spire col, it just looks like a lotta bergschrund to steep snow until a little above the col, where it finally nears vertical.. What if a guy scooted up right gully, cut across the col, and then just did the upper section of the headwall? -Ben
  17. Hah.. Just noticed who the OP is. I'm gonna curse the Audi blue next time we roll through there
  18. Given that nobody I've ever been driving with who has insisted on silence while passing Silence Rock (there's just one) has ever had the slightest idea what we were being silent for, I usually mutter something along the lines of "fuck Silence Rock," as we pass by.. As soon as someone can give me a legit memory to honor, I'll STFU
  19. Howdy Just picked up a set of small Blazes, but I think I probably need a medium. The smalls work for my single boots, but will never work with doubles... So I should probably up-size. Sort of a long shot, but worth a shot... Anybody have some good-condition mediums to trade for a set of BNIB smalls? Mine are unused, still in box, only thing I've done is adjust the baseplate from the factory holes to the extended holes, but they've never been mounted or ridden. Blue in color, don't care what yours are. Looks like these are last years' (11/12) model, without the new skeletonized base plate. FYI -Ben
  20. Well I won't be using hard boots- that would completely defeat half my reason for deciding on splitboard.. I've been up a few more times, to include an all day lift session yesterday, to hone the skills and remind myself how much fun snowboarding is in its own right, and I'm even more convinced this is the way to go. No learning curve- I'm a proficient boarder, and it IS a hell of a lot of fun. So... Back to the original purpose of this thread.. I will not be splitting the Sims board.. It's a classic and rides really well as a resort board, I'll keep it for that purpose and get something for BC. Being 5'8" and 160lbs, carrying between 20-40lbs on my back (90% of the time closer to 20 than 40), riding, exclusively, mixed snow conditions at altitude.. What kind of length and shape should I be looking at?
