  4. Nice one Danny! Was wondering about you and your trip. Way to go.
  5. Yeah Gene the summit wall corner and the routes to climbers right take gear well. Why not have them place gear while on tr? Easily done at summit wall and within view of the ground for placement evaluation.
  6. Friction Slab. Straight forward walk. Maybe one scramble move. Nice staging area and boy howdy what a view!
  7. My sincere and heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the climber his family and friends and all involved.
  8. "I hope that doesn't come off as callous or cavalier " - Rob I don't think it does Rob and what you said, was said well. Thank you. Chris and I atop Salish on 8/26/13, The back of the Roan Wall at his finger tip and his beloved Waterfall Basin behind it. Chris gettting ready as we started pioneering another new route in the basin 8/10/13 Making sure I was motivated 8/10/13
  9. I was at Marthas with Chris the week leading up to this event. We had big plans after having spent the entire Summer climbing in "The Valley". Our plans did not pan out as we expected as the weather kept us working at camp most of the time. Anyone who knows Chris also knows that there was very little down time. There was always a project. I hiked out with Chris on Friday to go on to other plans I had for the holiday and for him to meet up with his daughter. We laid plans to meet up again in two weeks to do more. I have admired Chris since the beginning of my climbing career through his routes and reputation. I had the honor of becoming his friend and climbing partner a year ago labor day. It is with heavy heart that I wish Chris peace and rest. My thoughts, prayers and blessings to his family and all of those whose lives Chris touched. As evidenced in the words of others above he was truly an inspiration...... The world has lost one of the best men I have ever had the privilege to know........
  10. "much like using birth control with a pregnant woman; sure, it might help you feel safer, but it won’t really do you much good in the end." One of the funniest things I have heard all week. Thanks! "Suddenly, my rope knocked down a football-sized rock from about 15 feet above, which slammed into my shoulder. Pain exploded across my vision and I began to feel panic, but luckily my shoulder was not broken. I traversed to a ledge and came off rappel. With my vision swimming, the entire 200-pound ledge gave way underneath my feet as I moved left with as much care as I could produce. “I’m not dead. I’m not dead. I’m not dead.” I repeated this mantra in my head over and over." The reason I have all but given up on summits. I would rather climb more "technical" and "safer" ground any day! Strong work lads! It has been quite the time watching you two grow as climbers and alpinists. Keep it up!

  18. Cool idea Curt. I would chip in. Anyone else? Totally agree. There should be a Paypal account (if there isn't already) that the rest of us can pitch a few bucks into. You and other folks doing the maintenance shouldn't have to cover the hardware costs as well.
