  1. Index/Leavenworth Aug 11-18

Looking for a climbing partner to climb trad in Index or Leavenworth from August 11-18th. I'm probably only confident leading .7 (following .9?) at either place, working hard on improvement. Did Sepentine Arete with a friend last week. Anchor and rope mangement skills are dialed. email me@shanerathbun.com if want to climb Can also lead A2/WI4 if interested in alpine or an aid route (Liberty Crack?)
  2. Looking for a competent potential climbing partner for the North Ridge of Mt Baker for this week. I have to be at Paradise on Rainier by 6/27/11, so perhaps a few days after this date would work as well. I'm 24 years old. Did Liberty Ridge over 3 days last week and was on Denali for 13 days, three days before that so I'm in reasonably good shape. I prefer to move quickly. Also looking for potential partners for future climbs in the PNW. I currently live in Redding, California but might be moving to and working on Mt Rainier soon. Other routes I'm interested in partners for this summer are: Forbidden Peak, West Ridge Mount Shuksan, North Face Mount Stuart, Ice Cliff Glacier Mount Stuart, Stuart Glacier Couloir Mount Rainier, Ptarmigan Ridge Mount Waddington, Bravo Glacier Route Please email me (me@shanerathbun.com) or call 530.604.4094 Thanks, Shane
  3. NE Fork of the Kahiltna

Thanks everyone for your advice, it goes a long ways.
  4. NE Fork of the Kahiltna

Hi Mark. Thank you for your detailed response, very helpful.
  5. NE Fork of the Kahiltna

Dane: I read that. Thanks, I appreciate your support. Brad: Thanks for your advice and photos. Looks beautiful. We plan to do it alpine style. I think we will put in a cache at 16k on the Rib before we descend WB. This will allow us to move quickly through the ice fall and up the lower portion of the Rib. It will also work as a back up of supplies in case anything goes wrong, like getting pinned down in a storm and we began to run low on food/fuel.
  6. NE Fork of the Kahiltna

lol Thanks for the inspiration genspires, sounds like a plan.
  7. NE Fork of the Kahiltna

  8. NE Fork of the Kahiltna

Does anyone have any advice on route finding through this mess? Annotated route photos? Anyone gone through it in mid-June? Looking to attempt the West Rib after acclimatizing on the West Buttress, thanks.

  10. North Sister in winter

I'm thinking about heading straight for North Sister first to try to catch the end of the weather window, what do you think? Will post a trip report and pictures when I get back...
  11. North Sister in winter

We will have sleds, but not that kind of sled... We will be out there from January 2-9 and attempt to tag all 3 of the Sisters. As part of our Denali training, we will be skiing and dragging sleds to Green Lake from Dutchman for our attempt on South Sister, and then moving our camp to the base of the Hayden Glacier to stage our attempts on Middle and North Sisters.
  12. North Sister in winter

Has anyone done the Sisters link up in winter? I'm more specifically interested in a winter ascent of North Sister. Does anyone know where I can find some beta regarding North Sister in winter? Specifically conditions on the traverse and the bowling alley, I'm not so concerned about the approach.
  13. Starting Out: Rainier

June for works me too, anyone that wants to plan a trip, I'm in.
  14. Starting Out: Rainier

In the meantime, I plan on taking an Avalanche/Crevasse course and completing a Mt Shasta summit via the Casaval Ridge in preparation for my Rainier summit attempt.
  15. Starting Out: Rainier

Anyone willing to take me up or allow me to tag along with their group sometime this April / May? Please let me know, thanks.
