  1. Looking for a good-condition Sprinter that's already outfitted as a camper. Figured I'd fly the flag and see if anyone's got one... I'm in WA but have a Southwest road trip coming up - can probably meet somewhere to check one out. Please email at mike (dot) pond (at) gmail Thanks!
  2. Get ready for winter! The mountain passes are getting cold, and it's time to get geared up for ice and snow! Please text at 914-584-ate too five sicks. cc messages don't seem to get to me quickly. Or email at mike.pond (at) gmail. I live in Leavenworth. If you're in town we can meet most any day, or I am sometimes in Bellingham or Seattle, too. 2 Black Diamond Cobra ice axes - Hammers - very light use -These are just awesome axes. Carbon fiber shafts, swing great on ice, pull down well on mixed. Great in the alpine. -Condition: I have used these less than 10 days out, the majority of which were just carried on the pack. As a result, there is very superficial scuffing on the shafts and superficial rust on the head screw. These are like new, especially for the (lack of) impacts they've had, and pitches climbed. - $500 for pair Petzl Aztar Ice Axe - Used. The pick is well worn but it is very structurally sound. Has many days left in its life of awesome alpinism. - This is such a great all-around ice tool! It climbs ice well, and is light enough to take as an alpine, mountaineering, or skiing axe. I have loved using this guy on the NW's alpine routes. - $100 Black Diamond Anarchist Avalung Pack -15 days of use, all light skiing. This pack has very many days ahead of it, with you riding the best winter has to bring. It's big enough for an overnight, but dexterous for single-day touring. - $175 Julbo Zebra Glacier Glasses -Photochromatic -Gold/yellow tint - with case -Awesome for all kinds of activities: skiing, mountain/alpine climbing, alititude -Very light use. I have tried them on, brought them on a trip where they stayed in the tent the whole time. They didn't fit my weirdly-shaped head. - $100
  3. I have a pair of Black Diamond Cobra ice tools. They are in excellent condition. I've swung em into ice a few times, but they're in fantastic condition. The shafts are a little scuffed from various duffle bags, but nothing you would see from even a mild mixed route. $450. I live in Leavenworth.
  4. Hi all- New, still in the box w. tags. La Sportiva Trango Extreme Evo (aka the Silver Bullets). Size 43.5. Retails for $420. Make an offer!
  5. Hey all- I am looking to start bolting a bit. I am looking for any items of the "kit" but especially a hand drill. If you've got a power drill, I'd listen, too, or any other bolting materials (bolts, hangers, torque wrench, etc). I travel between Bellingham, Mazama, and Leavenworth quite a bit so I could probably meet somewhere. Actually heading to Portland this week, too. Either PM me or respond here, or send me an email at mike --dot-- pond -at- G - mail dot com Thanks!
  6. As far as the study goes, I am trying to not define "spiritual experience" for anyone. The idea is that each person may have their own idea of what spirituality or "spiritual experience" mean, and I don't want to influence people's ideas. My goal is to see if there are similarities or differences among different climbers. But, to answer your question: Yes. Meditative, deeply moving, supernatural, or that which deals with the "spirit" each count in my book as spiritual. As long as it counts for you as spiritual, in whatever way that may mean, I'd love to hear what you have to say.
  7. The latter. Though I have reached the Thank You Jesus Jug on my fair share of climbs, I'm interested in something deeper. But really, if climbing is "spiritual" for you, I want to get your perspective, without adding too much of my own input. But yeah, I'd like the serious perspective, and not just "holy shit."
  8. Good question. Answering that will be a big part of the study - looking into what exactly a "spiritual experience" is for the climbers involved. I'll rely on the participants' own definitions of what that is. So, if climbing is spiritual for you, in your own way, give me a shout. I'd love to hear about it.
  9. Hi all- I am Mike Pond, a NW climber and grad student at Ohio University. I am doing my master’s thesis “Investigating climbing as a spiritual experience.” If climbing is in any way a spiritual experience for you, I would love to do a short (20 minute) interview with you. All types of climbers are welcome, with any level of experience. You must be 18 years old to participate. There are no risks or benefits of participation, and no compensation for your time (other than making my day). If you are interested, please PM me or email at mp127810 [at] ohio.edu Thank you very much! Mike Pond Masters student in Recreation Studies Ohio University (PS- Sorry if this isn't in the right forum. Let me know where to put it if so)
