  1. The Diamox should keep your feet from swelling up too much, as it works as a diaretic too. Plan on some swelling and don't wear boots that are too snug when not at elevation.
  2. Consider talking to your doctor about a prescription for Diamox. You can look it up on rxlist.com
  3. Thanks! I've been eyeing the Black Diamond Momentum SA, because the price is good and the reviews were good too. Just wasn't sure if it was a good choice for Rainier.
  4. Is there a difference in climbing harnesses for rock vs mountaineering? it's the only thing I have left to get before my Rainier climb this summer. Was going to rent, but noticed that the prices weren't that high and know I'll use it more then once. Also, any big difference in womens vs mens?? As always.....thanks!
  5. Just wondering what Jefferson is like to climb. More like Adams? Harder? Glaciers and crevasses? Haven't heard about anyone climbing it much, so like I said.....just wondering. Look forward to hearing about it. Thanks!
  6. You aren't going to get hired without your license. They can't hire you to work in a position that you aren't licensed to do. Get your boards out of the way and then start applying. If you test in DC, you'll also have to go through the WA requirements to switch your license over to a WA license. Every state is different on what they require you to do. Hate to tell you this....but it rains several months out of the year in Washington....not packed into a few months. You're not going to be able to dodge the rain out there. Best of luck!!

Hello Sava. Would love to see some of your climbing pictures and hear where you climb. Your English is good.
  8. check whittakermountaineering.com keep checking their monsoon sale under the used gear section. have gotten a great pack and some really good boots and other gear at great prices.
  9. I vote for Adams for a first climb. My daughter and I did Adams last year for our first and learned a lot! Will let you know what kind of shape you need to get in for the bigger mountains.
  10. thanks for reminding me how much it sucks living in Ohio!
  11. Mark, what did you use to get the awesome picture of the fly?
  12. Packing for my trip to Seattle and Rainier next weekend. Was wondering what condition the Muir snowfield is in. Thanks!
  13. It's a Garmin, etrex Venture GPS. Can't wait to get out there! 10 days to go.
  14. That is awesome....just what I was looking for. Thanks!! Sandy
  15. I think I read somewhere that there are gps coordinates posted somewhere are Paradise for the route to Muir. Anyone know where I can find them?? Thanks, Sandy
  16. Thanks for the info on taking the crampons. It brought up a few more questions. We were going to go with our climbing poles, pack a puff jacket, hard shell, hat, gloves, snack and water. Do we need ice axes or any other clothes that you can think of?? Also, a question on route. Last year we were out there and hiked up to pan point. We saw climbers turning off before getting that far and heading towards pebble creek. We have been told two different routes. The first was that one, then we were told that was wrong and that we needed to go all the way to pan point and go up from there. We'll be there on Sunday the 19th. Any chance we'll see any of you up there? Would be fun to say hi. Thanks again....you guys are the best! Sandy
  17. My daughter and I will be in Seattle on Sept. 20th for just a few days. We're planning on climbing from Paradise up to Muir one day and I'm wondering if we will need to bring our climbing boots and crampons. Have heard both yes and no....so thought I'd throw this one out there to all of you! We've never been up there, so didn't know. We're doing it as part of our current training for our summit attempt next August and because we love being on the mountain. As always....thanks! Sandy
  18. I think bstack looks hot! LOL!!!
