  2. Trip: Mt. Hood - North Face Date: 3/30/2013 Trip Report: So after seeing some great trip reports on the N. Face of Hood my buddy Joe and I got the stoke and decided it was time for a go....We left Friday and dropped a car at T-line and then headed over to the Spur. We camped at the climbers hut and started our climb at 4:30. We skipped the Elliot and headed up the spur to make the traverse. We made it to the base of the left gully??? and started up..we wandered left and right climbing steep snow with the occasional ice for about 4 hours before topping out at noon. We carried screws and pickets but didn't feel the need to place any pro. The exposure was awesome and the day was great...Long hot slog down the ss.... Gear Notes: Next time bring skis for the spur...the snow was perfect...argggg
  3. I have got to get out and climb some of that mossy gorge rock...The views look sweet...

  6. Hey Climbers, I got my partner pregnant and now she doesn't think it's a good idea to do an epic alpine climb in the Canadian Rockies but she is cool enough to not want me to miss out on the chance. I just need a new partner!!! I will be available to climb anytime the first week of September. I am open to suggestions and was looking at Mt. Louis....Call me, write me, Lets Climb.... Josh jrexpaver@hotmail.com I also posted on rockclimbing.com in the Canada partners area...
  7. Trip: Alpine Lakes Dragontail Peak - Serpentine Arete Date: 7/12/2012 Trip Report: My buddy Joe and I went for a jaunt up the Serpentine Arete. We took off Wednesday after work at 8pm, got to the parking lot by 1am, and took a quick snooze. At 5am we started on the trail. The start of the route is across a 2 foot moat but jugs and cracks in the morning got me smiling early. The first couple pitches have some snow that give it a nice feel. We got to the crux pitches that provided some sweet climbing. The next couple pitches were really fun then we went right instead of left. The crux for me on this route was route finding. I was following polished rock but ended up on several pitches that had me wondering where the easy ledges and scrambling were. We climbed way too high and right before getting left towards the summit. This mistake cost us several hours. Summit was achieved at 8pm and the descent was going to be a bitch. Joe's headlamp was mia so the race was on to get down before dark. We got through the steep stuff but as we got to the alder patches it was black out. The one headlamp in bushwhacking central was classic comedy. I would move 3 feet then light the path for Joe. We finally got to the trail and made our way back to the car by 2am, 21 hours, not as quick as I was hoping. We slept a couple hours and headed home feeling beat up and stoked for an epic climb....Only other climber we saw that day was a solo climber on the Colchuck Glacier. Gear Notes: Alpine rack going up crampons and ax going down... Approach Notes: Follow the trail.

  11. I just got a surprise visit to Banff dropped in my lap and I can't stop smiling. My question is if I can only do one full day of climbing should I spend it on Mt. Louis? I am eyeing the Gmoser route or maybe the Kain. I have not seen many TRs on the Gmoser but what I've seen makes me want to do it even more...Are there any permit issues? Should we go on a week day to avoid crowds? Any info will be appreciated...
  12. I am feeling the same...maybe sometime next week. I am going to ski meadows Saturday morning, if super bowl opens I will get a better look.
  13. Looks like there might be 2 feet of new snow over today and tomorrow. Could make for good skiing but sketchy avy conditions. I am down for Sat/Sun. If I can rearrange my work schedule Monday, Sun/Mon climb might be a better window. What do you guys think? Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon? Also who is skiing it? My contact info is Josh 503-933-4534
  14. I have been eyeing the spur for a while and want to get it before it melts out. I plan on skiing the approach and decent to Timberline. I am flexible on dates and am looking for good weather window. Open to doing it as an over nighter or one good push. Let me know, Josh

  17. I have enjoyed several beautiful days at Petes Pile this season. This is one of the sweetest crags near Portland that no one seems to climb. I have the Portland Climbs, Tim Olsen book which has the main routes but I am wondering if anyone has beta on the upper half the the wall. The only multi in the book is pumping for the man. There has to to be plenty more...Who knows where I can get the goods???
