  1. I would love to hear the latest on the South route. I am arriving in Portland Tuesday June 8 to take a shot at it, any beta would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you wish. Also curious if flotation would be recommended? Thanks all!
  2. Hi all, I am looking at the PNW for a climb the first week of September, can anyone tell me the general route conditions and weather Sept 1 time frame? I am leaning towards Mt Baker,Is Baker an option that time of year? I was on Rainier last July and that is all I have to compare to. Any beta would be helpful. thanks
  3. How are the climbing conditions for the later half of Oct.? I am hoping to get a trip out west and would like to attempt Hood. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thank you, that puts my small brain at ease.
  5. Hello all, I am looking at attempting the south route the first week of March. I am wondering what the avy danger is around that route? I know the weather will be against us with only a slight chance for the summit, however I will hope to get a break in the weather. Ant beta would be appreciated. I was at Rainier last summer and am itching to go to the PNW. Thanks

  7. I have a question tht may be foolish, but I will ask anyway. If I am attempting to Summit the last week of July, first week of August, what clothing would be recommended? ie...how many layers? Plastic boots etc... I am very familiar with summer and winter climbs in Colorado, never been to the NW. I appreciate any guidance you may give. (hate to carry the "extra"). Thanks
  8. Hi Jack, I appreciate the response. I made the reservation and am excited to give it a go. Thanks and ANY info you feel will help, feel free to email me or PM me. I always take advice to heart. Rob
  9. Hello all, I appreciate the forum and am a member of a few others in Colorado. I am arriving in late July to attempt the summit of Rainier via Muir/Ingraham glacier and have a few questions. What is the camping situation at Ingraham Flats? I know I need a permit, are "reservations" needed for the permit? Would snowshoes be needed up to Muir? and lastly if I was to base out of Ingraham Flats, would a small summit pack suffice for the attempt in late July? I would plan on leaving the big pack and go light the last bit. I hope these are not foolish questions, I am aware the Rainier is not the typical Colorado 14er I am familiar with. Thanks, Rob
