  1. Excellent high-end boots in very good condition. They have been used for ice climbing and alpine climbing. Love the boots, but my feet got 1/2 size larger in the past year. I'm in Seattle, asking $275. - EUR 38, US Women's 7 - Please know your size in these boots, and whether you need to size up to accommodate a sock or for protecting toes during climbing and descents - The boot shows very little wear on the sole and no tear or scuffing on the inside. - Some scuff marks are visible on the side from crampons (see pictures) - No tears or damage to the rubber rands - Boots have not been fitted or altered in any way - They come with original insoles (in very good shape as I mostly used different insoles) pictures of scuffs and a few minor cuts are below. Thanks for looking.
  2. this is absolutely terrible. the dog got scared, confused, and they left it. the fliers are supposed to help? what was the backup plan? were they prepared to take care of the dog like they woulld take care of a climbing partner? most recreational areas require the dogs to be leashed. http://mshinstitute.org/index.php/climbing/obtain_a_permit
  3. cheap down pillow? if you change your mind and go with synthetic, seattle fabrics is good: http://www.seattlefabrics.com/insulations.html
  4. that's correct. i'm not getting out of ice climbing, if that's what you're asking! this is what happens when two people with their own racks marry their gear: enough screws to sew up any route! time to prune. shameless bragging, last week:
  5. all screws are in excellent condition. teeth are sharp and have been taken care of. please see pictures, and ask questions! the tally: Petzl Laser Sonic - 13 cm - comes with a flute -$30 Petzl Laser Sonic - 21 cm - comes with a flute -$30 Grivel 360 medium - 16 cm - the lever could use a little WD40, teeth are in pristine condition -$30 Omega Pacific - 10 cm -$15 Black Diamond Turbo - 4x - 16 cm -$30 Black Diamond Turbo - 2x - 21 cm -$30 it's time these bad boys found a new home and got out climbing!
  6. yep. my kit is punisher pros (with goretex) and OR arete (also goretex). the punishers have more dexterity and are great for leading. but on a recent climb of a high-flow WI route, even when temps were in mid-teens, i got rained on. and my gauntlet-less, under-cuff punishers provided a perfect route for water into the sleeves of my jacket. i imagine a similar situation with consistent spindrift, unless you can cinch your sleeves really tightly. bottom line: the gauntlet is awesome, and i find it to be a simple and reliable insurance policy. the aretes aren't ideal for climbing super technical stuff, but i find them sufficient for following, leading moderates, they are super warm, the shell+liner design allows them to dry waaaaaay faster, they have a stellar idiot cord and a pull-on loop, and aren't very expensive. if OR made alpine alibi small enough, i'd go for those, for sure.
  7. We picked up a copy of the select guide in Canmore this week. It's really nice! The photos are absolutely excellent.
  8. awesome [first!] report, raf! about time! and ah yeah, warm-up... jeez...
  9. don't do it unless your approach is just a nice flat groomer. it's like skiing in flip-flops.
  10. whoa whoa! not flipping off the cameraman AND smiling?? photoshop! awesome job, guys.

  14. sweet! you really banged those two out quickly! that friction slab/crap felt so desperate to me, major props on sending it, val! also, i agree about the lower portion of burgundy - the rock is quite rough and has excellent friction, but many of the flakes feel totally hollow and unstable. the route feels cruiser at times, but has you second-guessing half the holds because of their fragility. looks like you had a stellar weekend!
  15. this was really awesome to read. thanks. hope your friend makes a speedy recovery.
  16. we used the ergo when the baby was really small and could be carried in the front (then a backpack with gear can be carried in addition). we tried an older rumba (lots of them around! ask your friends for a hand-me-down!) afterwards, but didn't like it for ski touring 'cause it's so bulky. the current choice is deuter kangakid: it is lower profile, the child sits closer to the body but can still look over your shoulder, and has some storage. the only down-side is that the torso length is a little short. check it out!
