  1. Does anyone know if the road up to the trail head still completely snowed in?
  2. By the way, this is f@#king sweet!
  3. I caught my tidbit of info while at the show in SLC. Although Petzl did not have one for display which does make me speculative. It would seem simple for them to do so (especially if end users can make it happen in their garage) and something that makes sense given the application that these tools are seeing. If Petzl has no desire to do this then wtf are they thinking? One could only hope that its not a nomic hammer but an updated quark up their sleeve that blends the best of both worlds.
  4. Rumor has it that Petzl will be making a hammer version of the Nomic in the near future. I'll hold my breath.
  5. PM sent on some screws and screamers

A piece of velcro is gone from the extension collar, but i found it a useless piece anyways. $100 Black Diamond Magnum used, leaders pack, some abrasion on bottom, otherwise good. $20 Black Diamond Instinct pack used as a crag pack, multi use w/ rope catch and helmet sleeve. $30
  8. I didn't know about this and am now very psyched! Thanks for sharing
  9. Sick! Was it 13cm screws because that's what you had or what the route would mostly take? Good job!
  10. Second that. Also, yoga is something that everyone can do at home. I would personally like to see a climbing gym that is meant for training. It seems too many gyms cater to the social scene aspect and pulling on plastic for the sake of, well, pulling on plastic. I think a climbing gym should be a staging area to efficiently and safely prepare for our outdoor adventures. An aid section and drytooling area play into this idea. It would be nice to see a gym area with an emphasis on equipment and workouts specific to climbing. Get some training staff focused on coaching those willing to work hard and see results in better climbing and ill be there everyday that i am not outside. I would pay a premium to access a facility that had a training atmosphere rather than a social club feel and i am fucking broke!
  11. Blodgett canyon has the best of it. Don't expect to travel up any ol' canyon in the Bitterroots and expect to find great rock on long routes. Thanks for taking me back there for five minutes. I miss that place.
  12. Western Mountaineering Alpin Lite Bag. Rated to 20 deg. but sleeps warmer. The super light fabric is great. It would take A LOT of condensation to actually get the down wet. And it weighs lbs. 15 oz.
  13. I am headed down to the OR (shit) show in SLC at the end of January and then will be have at least a week to spend at my hearts content. I would rather spend that time climbing ice and winter alpine routes, or find some dry desert rock than getting utah freshiez (am i insane?). I have not spent any time down there during this time of year and was wondering if anyone had any good beta and/or guide book suggestions. I already have my eye on Little Cottonwood Canyon. There has to be some obscure gems in the area. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! P.S. If anyone happens to be down there the last week of Jan. - 1st week of Feb and wants to swing some tools let me know!
  14. Just tapped the keg! Delicious. Golden. Ale. mmmmmmmmmmmm The first feat of strength will be a keg stand while wearing a loaded 75L. And since we all climb, no one can hold your legs!
  15. My co-worker Forest and I enjoyed some late afternoon, early evening climbing on Crown Jewel yesterday. Conditions were great! The ice is coming in nicely and of course, will only get better!
  16. So is anybody gonna be up there today? My shitty crampons are worn and ready!
  17. Fairweather is just a good ol' Maverick. Take solace in that he will probably trip over a wet root and shoot himself in the leg.
  18. Wednesday will work. Where is the usual meeting spot?
  19. Super Duper Fucking Sick! Well done! Isn't this what you are supposed to be doing at thirty? Just wait for that mid life crisis. Imagine the routes you'll send then!
  20. Not really our own store. More like Headquarters for world domination! Mwahahahaha! Actually, its just a place where we make packs and eat LOTS of burritos
  21. One thing that is missing is the knowledge that there is value in simply getting into a wild area. It is something that is not an instant payoff. The connection between the natural world is something that gets stronger and stronger with each experience. I couldn't tell you exactly why i climb, but it is something that resonates deep inside me and something that i cultivated within myself. It took some time to develop, but as well know, is completely worth any time, effort, money put into it. The video game generation, of which i am a part of, has no understanding of the value of connecting with the natural world. Sure they like to be outside and go for walks in city parks. But how many go out to experience that wildness that we all cherish? How could anyone expect them to without knowing it is out there? In broad terms, those connections, which have existed throughout time, and only have recently been lost, need to be reestablished for long term health of our wild lands and ourselves. As stated by Letsroll, this is something i could go on for days about. IMO it starts with the kids. www.rootsranch.org <---- check this out!
  22. I was working at stevens pass that winter. God did it suck. If i recall, the backside never fully opened, if at all. That picture of the hogsback is shocking. This past June had more coverage than in the pic.
