  3. Hi, I'll be climbing up at WA Pass on Sat, June 27 and I'm looking for a partner to climb either before this (anytime Wed-Fri, June 24-26) or after this (anytime Sun-Mon, June 28-29). Routes I am particularly interested in at (or near) WA Pass: Hitchhiker Passenger SuperCave NW Corner NEWS NW Face SEWS Also interested in Colchuck Balanced Rock WF, but that would have to be June 24 or 25 (Wed or Thurs) since I will be up at WA Pass on June 27. Or even Index. Wed, Thurs, or Fri. Email me if interested: sabegg@gmail.com Thanks!
  4. Sol, Yeah I saw those entries in the AAJ but none quite fit any of our pitches. Certainly not the first and second pitch which were pretty distinct. Hard to imagine they have not been climbed at some point and just not really documented but who knows. But the thrill of the unknown was there and that's what counts!
  5. Trip: Prusik Peak - Solid Gold, Burgner-Stanley, Boving-Christensen, new route FA ? Date: 6/13-15/2015 Trip Report: This last weekend I joined my friends Brandon Kotulka, Jon Pobst, and James Fletcher and the pre-permit-season hoards up at Prusik. We climbed 4 routes over the course of the weekend: 1) Solid Gold (5.11a) 2) Burgner-Stanley (5.9+) 3) a new route just left of Solid Gold, possible FA ? (5.10+ A0) 4) Boving-Christensen (5.10) Here's some overlays: And some random photos: Brandon leading the first pitch of Solid Gold: Brandon on the 5.9+ corner on Burgner-Stanley: Jon on Pitch 3 of our possible FA of Energizer Bunny: Camp below Prusik Peak: I've posted more photos and a full TR on my website: http://www.stephabegg.com/home/tripreports/washington/northcascades/prusik3 -Steph
  6. I am looking for a strong/fast partner to climb Colchuck Balanced Rock West Face or a couple of routes at WA Pass (like NW Corner NEWS, NE Face SEWS, Passenger maybe). I am free Friday through Monday or Tuesday (June 19-22 or 23). Email me: sabegg@gmail.com

  8. I'm looking to get out climbing at Index this weekend. I think I've got a partner for Sunday, but am looking for someone wanting to put in a full day on Saturday. Weather looks great. Pretty much interested in anything climbable. (Also could be swayed to Squamish....). Email me if you are interested in either or both days, particularly Saturday though. Thanks! sabegg@gmail.com
  9. Anyone interested in climbing at Index Sunday? 5.9-5.11. Anything. Email me: sabegg@gmail.com.
  10. I am looking for a partner for a full day of climbing on Saturday. My preference is Leavenworth area if the weather is good enough, otherwise Vantage looks like the best bet. I'm driving from Bellingham and that's about the farthest I'm willing to go in a day. Trad, sport, multi, single, 5.8-5.11 whatever - just want to get in a full day of climbing! Shoot me an email or reply to this post, thanks! -Steph Abegg sabegg@gmail.com
  11. I'm looking for a partner to get out for at least 1 day of climbing this weekend if the rock is dry. Trad, sport, 5.8-5.11, just want to get out. Shoot me an email, thanks: sabegg@gmail.com
  12. Anyone interested in climbing at Index this afternoon? 2pm onward? Email me: sabegg@gmail.com
  13. Ken, Have you found a partner? I'm interested in Index this afternoon, I'd be leaving Bellingham around noonish and hoping to climb until evening. Email me: sabegg@gmail.com -Steph
  14. Looked like you guys had a good day on the route too! It was nice meeting you guys, maybe see you again some day on the rock.
  15. Trip: The Grand Wall, The Chief, Squamish - Date: 6/7/2014 Trip Report: The first recorded rock climbs on The Chief were done in the late 50’s, but it was not until 1961 that the Grand Wall was finally climbed by Jim Baldwin and Ed Cooper in an epic 40 day siege. Since then, the Grand Wall has become THE route on the Chief. It has is all: perfect rock, great setting, runout slab, stellar crack, strenuous laybacking, delicate face, and many variations. I first climbed The Grand Wall in May 2007 with my friend Ross, and finally got a chance to climb it again seven years in June 2014 with my friends Tobias Tillemans, Jessica Todd, and Geoff Georges (as two rope teams). I've posted a full trip report on my website here: http://www.stephabegg.com/home/tripreports/britishcolumbia/grandwall Some random photos: Overlay: Tobias starting up the runout slabs to get to the vertical climbing above. Jessica making the final rather committing traverse step to the anchor. It's often a bit wet here. Geoff nearing the top of the Split Pillar. Geoff nearing the top of the Sword pitch. This is the technical crux pitch of the route and great climbing. Jessica leading the bolt ladder just above the Sword. Having fun! Tobias on Perry's Layback. Although short, this is probably the most strenuous pitch of the route, especially since it occurs high on the route. The bolts are quite welcome here since otherwise you'd need a few #5 cams... The final bit to the top! The spicy Bellygood Ledge walk-off.
  16. Anyone interested in a long day of climbing on Sat (June 7)? I'm thinking Squamish or Index. I live in Bellingham but could drive in myself or carpool, whatever works. I could possibly climb Sunday but would have to be home by 4pm or so but that could still mean a good morning on the rock. Email me is best: sabegg@gmail.com Thanks.
  17. Anyone interested in climbing in Leavenworth on Saturday? I'll be in the area and interested in climbing for a few hours or a full day. Email me: sabegg@gmail.com Thanks,-Steph
  18. Anyone interested in climbing at Vantage or Leavenworth this weekend? Could be one day or both..... Email me: sabegg@gmail.com Thanks!
  19. Yep. Some say they are aid but in that sense i guess rock shoes are aid too. They definitely make jamming more fun. Dan/Sarah convinced me to get a pair too when I got home. Difficult to find (mec used to carry them but out of tock at the moment). Planet granite in San Fran will ship them to you....
  20. yes. They convinced me to get a pair too when I got home. Difficult to find (mec used to carry them but out of tock at the moment). Planet granite in San Fran will ship them to you....
  21. Yeah, there's certainly a lot of potential for various details that could be included. For me, I kind of like the simplicity of it, and being able to just get a general visual of where it is looking good to go, and then clicking on the actual link to get the more detailed NOAA forecast. I suppose there could be various toggle options for how much detail you want shown on the matrix, but at the moment that is beyond my .php coding knowledge, and I'm not sure Ephrat and Luca have the time to make it too complicated. We can leave that for their eventual app!
  22. Yep, it nearly rolled out when I opened the register! I wonder if this is the original, or if there are a several previous Hulk Super Balls filling up the cracks below the summit block...
  23. I agree, including Canada locations would be sweet. Unfortunately the site is based on drawing data from the NOAA website, which does not contain Canadian point forecasts. Someday maybe!
