  1. I think the problem with the newbie speculation (disclaimer: I am a newbie climber, but a veteran raft guide and wildland fire fighter)on this site is the fact that newbies don't realize that the decisions that were made or not made on the mountain were made in the decision time-space of SECONDS, maybe minutes. If an accident had occured then we are talking about a decision time-space of LESS THAN SECONDS! We often run into the Johnny come lately, arm chair quaterbacking in both the rafting and wildland firefighting world also, where people that don't know what they are talking about come up with some explanation of what you did wrong after a decision time-space of days or weeks. Sorry folks thats not how these things go down in the moment. While all these newbies and interlopers have had more than a week to figure out "what they would do in this situation", they should keep their mouths shut and try to learn a thing or two from the experienced climbers who have actually been there and done that!! I'm ready and prepared to be sprayed.
