    Damn

This is from Russell Brand's blog. One of the better articles I've read about this for those who might be interested.
  2. Wow! Nice pics, Nine! Thanks for the link.
  3. Here's an article about a fat cat swooped up by a hawk! Link to NY Daily News
  4. The spammer has returned. Now putting spam on other photos of mine.
  5. Jon, The photo is still there. I've been getting anonymous comments for a week or so. It started with real people on posts from the Kids Rope up and the Ozone Fundraiser then went to spam with links. I just got another spam on a different photo this evening: http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/comments.php?notify=off&notifyid=423&photo=40061 Here's another one: http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/comments.php?notify=off&notifyid=434&photo=41336
  6. One of my photos is being spammed. I went to the link on the email notification that says to click to stop notices from being sent, but there's nothing there except to comment. It's a photo of Joe H and Kevin at his Ozone Benefit. I'd rather not delete the photo since it's a good one, but that's the next step. I've gotten over a hundred notices and just can't keep up with them anymore. Help! It's this photo: http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=41319&title=ozone-guide-book-release-and-fundraiser-party&cat=500
  7. Just when I was thinking of heading your way with Mac and Chaos for a dog show! There are Bay Area people on SuperTopo if you want to know more from locals. Have fun! :kisss:
  8. Would the insurance company have kept REI from refunding the cost of the bike when she returned it? That's what I don't get when they'll give refunds to other customers, why not to Monika? I mentioned the bike and no refund in my email, they didn't address it. Except for an extra sentence at the top thanking me for being a long-time customer, it was the same form letter as everyone else.
  9. Enjoyed the pics, Ptown. Working on a new story set on Mt. Hood. Exactly what I needed to see this morning. Thanks for posting them!
  10. Cute! I'm wondering who his target is and if being dressed in clothes is the reason for the attack.
  11. Thanks all! I sent it off. I found a few things I wasn't sure about on the final read thru but it was so late I figured no one would be awake to answer my questions. Revisions will be back by Monday at the latest due to the tight turnaround so I'll be posting more ???s then. Right now sleep and brainstorming are my priorities. They already want to go back to contract since this was the last book I owed them and they asked me to email them some ideas. I need to do that before the revisions arrive. Always something You all are awesome! :kisss: -Mel
  12. Not as plausible scenario...what would a skier be doing with a snowboarder. How do you explain this one? The shame! Sometimes you just can't help who you fall in love with. Mixed relationships can work, if both parties are willing to work at it. Compromise helps, as do splitboards
  13. If a person was skinning up past the Tilly Jane Cabin toward the Stone Hut, is it the Eliot Glacier they'd see if they stopped to look at the view? I had written glacier and wanted it to be a little more specific. Thanks!
  14. Thanks, pcg. :kisss: You're awesome. It didn't have to be 26, just needed a plausible road. hwy 35 will work great. Thank you so very much! I ran too long with word count so had to change things up in various places, but can't find my notes with the various rescue scenarios I'd worked up to use in stories. My brain goes to mush after a few days writing non-stop! I can't wait to get some sleep!
  15. I misplaced my notes, so am going by memory which isn't a good thing right now. I seem to recall a person getting lost on Hood and then finding their way to the road. Does anyone know if I could use that scenario with a snowboarder and a skier? They get lost in white-out, make a shelter, in the morning find their way down to the road. And when they say road do they mean Hwy 26? Thanks! Almost finished!
  16. Oh, man, I just realized I have a package of those for Chaos, my Elkhound, in the pantry. That will forever be associated with chummy. Especially the smell. I'll see how Dave A's friendly reads. Thanks! About to do another mtn. rescue but running out of pages due to house fire I wrote tonight. I think it'll have to be mostly off-scene.
  17. Ah, I finally understand why CC.com is so helpful....... Sex sells in the "romance" business Actually there are many levels of sensuality in the romance genres and all of them sell. And some books w/o sex are even best sellers. BTW, I just realized the book out now does have a wedding night scene. First one I've written, and sort of wanted to forget about it. But none of the Mt. Hood books have sex. So "chummy," anyone care to help me out with that?
  18. Would a guy/firefighter/1st year climber say this to a woman if he was curious what happened on the ledge. It's the "chummy" I'm thinking might not be right for a 28 yo male. "You two must have gotten chummy on that ledge."
  19. Thanks Dave. Will stick them on the West Ridge. And totally thinking safety kit = first aid kit. Never thought otherwise and it took me a second to realize what you even meant. LOL! Pollyanna, here Really appreciate the heads up on that! Will be sure to check any future gear suggested here for double meanings! :kisss:
  20. Okay, I'll figure out a way to have them cuddle uncomfortably on the ledge. Maybe what happens up there tells them they really only should be friends. (the hero is curious about their close friendship so I can use it for that, too.) Thanks. I shot Sobo a PM, but... Dave A. - what route were you climbing on Stuart?
  21. Coldfinger - it's a woman and a guy. But on a narrow downsloping ledge like that, I was having trouble figuring out how they would spoon or cuddle. But I've never been in such a spot so maybe it is possible! They are best friends, more like brother and sister, so nothing else would be happening between them. Or would they just get that cold and desperate to warm up? Anybody ever been in this position? I haven't so hard for me to know what they might do. Were there LED headlamps twelve years ago? She's just explaining what happened in the past to the hero who wants to kiss her. Easy to take that line out though. I'm assuming if it's too dark and not great weather, nothing's going to help you get down. I'll recheck Sobo's post about what route he was on since his was where I got Stuart from. PCG - Love the fetal position. Didn't even think of that. And freezing feet. I meant to put that in there after reading wfinley's bivy TR. Appreciate you finding that typo, too. Will make my job easier when I go over it again. Back to it!
  22. As soon as I have extra time, I'll watch, Off Right now I'm in a bit of a panic and trying to make the most of the time I have.
  23. Haha! They just kissed before this (and he'll try right after this again). She doesn't want to kiss him again so trying to distract her and him from thinking about kissing. Thus trying to engage him in a serious discussion. My books have no sex so I have to work the tension thing. As well as the kissing. Also she's a mountain rescuer so that's why she mentions the ten essentials. She would be kind of geeky because she's a by the book kind of girl. So good if it came off that way! That's what I wanted. Thanks!
  24. If anyone has time to read and offer an opinion.... Here's the unplanned bivy scenario. Just wrote it (i.e. first draft) based on what people had shared in posts a page or so back. Is this plausible/realistic? Anything you'd changed to make it more real? I want to work on the climbing part first then I'll work on polishing the words. "There was this one time on Stuart." "Mount Stuart in Washington?" She nodded. "It was sunny. A few clouds in the sky, but good conditions for a day climb. Halfway up the weather started changing. It was strange. Rain, hail, snow, sun again. We should have turned around, but we were young with one goal, the summit, so kept climbing." "We?" "Paulson and I." She could remember the climb like it was yesterday not twelve years ago. "We reached the summit and started our descent, but daylight disappeared so fast. Dying batteries in our headlamps didn't help. We couldn't see the route and weren't really sure where we were. We ended up stuck on this narrow ledge. It downsloped so much I kept thinking we were going to slide off. We had belay jackets, but no sleeping bags or bivy sacks. The "ten essentials" were more like "ten suggestions" to us back then. We sat on our packs. I remember our feet dangled over the edge. It was a long way down. I knew that even in the pitch black." "What did you do?" "We kept our harnesses on and anchored ourselves as best we could. It was freezing cold. I shivered so badly my helmet sounded like a jackhammer against the rock behind me. We shared one of those space blankets. Neither of us wanted to fall asleep. We kept slapping ourselves and each to stay warm and awake. We both knew if it snowed or rained again, we would be dead." "You're here so you made it down." She nodded. "The night seemed to last forever, but finally the sun peeked over the horizon. It was so beautiful to see the dawn break. As soon as there was enough light, we started our descent. An hour later, it started to snow, but we were moving and warmer by then."
