  1. I was hoping on coming out to challenger from utah on july 27 to give it a go, but with the snow bridge as it is, it's not looking good? Once it's gone, are there any alternate routes around the schrund, or is it done for the season?
  2. Hiya, does anyone have any info. on the current conditions on the leuthold? I know things are melting like crazy in the cascades right now, but with a nice and early alpine start is it doable/enjoyable? My biggest concern is climbing through the hourglass in such warm weather...any thoughts on this? Thanks!
  3. Hey thanks. I'm really hoping that the strong winds will scour the route so I'm not trudging through deep snow the whole way up. Any word on typical avalanche conditions?
  4. Hey all, I posted something similar in the "newbies" forum and received some good advice on what to expect in terms of the route condition, but I thought of a couple more questions and I figured this might be the best place to do it. So anyways, I'm planning on climbing the Leuthold Couloir in mid-December, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some info. on it. Are avalanche hazards typically a big problem this time of year for the route? Are there numerous crevasses at the headwall of the Reid glacier to be worried about? I know that it's very cold, but what sort of temperatures/wind speeds are to be expected this time of year? I've never climbed Mt. Hood before, so any advice would be helpful I'm sure. Thanks!!!
  5. I'm planning on climbing Mt. Hood for the first time, via the Leuthold Coulior, in early December. Can anyone give me the general conditions of the route, and/or the typical mountain temperatures and wind speeds for Hood this time of year? Thanks, much appreciated!!!
