  1. Seems some people think Adams is not worthy, others looking for help. I have spent a lot of time around there, hear is a few tips. Camping at cold springs is tough noisey, camp lower. The lunch counter has a lot of mice, camp on the ridge west of the cresent glacier about a mile lower. One day is better. North ridge, sw shute, and Mazama glacier better routes than the south spur but a bit more of a grunt. South spur best on a week day, September a good time. This is if you want to go the fastest way. Adams glaicer is fun, North and east areas offer good wilderness, and interesting route finding The ranger station at trout lake can give you outdated road reports, do not just take the word of the person that answers. 2. I was on that standard route about ten years ago, there was a guy I belive from Olympic Mt rescue there. He said on busy spring weekends they hung out to help people. We had a good talk and he said nothing of our lack of gear. There were a few nervous people there. It reminded me of the haystack on Si or the hike from Diamond lake to Mt Thielsen summit.
  3. I know this is a month late, but we were up at dog Mt. yesterday. The flowers were past peak, but I did get way to close to a full grown rattle snake. Never thought of gettig hurt there. You may get more response to this type of question at nwhikers.net, a lot of good info there.
