  1. Valley View West is awesome, great quality rock in a great setting. The routes are in the x38 guide, its tricky to find even with the guide. I've done Traverse to the hole, its 11a i think.
  2. My opinion is valuable becasue it is a 2nd opinion of someone who has actually climbed the route recently. Which I think makes my opinion is more valuable than yours. I'm not saying the bolt didn't wiggle when whoever climbed it, I just think its not really a big issue. I went back again a few days ago and a friend climbed it, I told him to check out the bolts on his way up, and he thought they were fine.
  3. i'll be there later this afternoon.
  4. i did ellie's sweet kiss 2 days ago and didn't notice anything wrong with the bolts except for a spinning hanger on one of them, which is pretty common. In my opinion its nothing to be concerned about, it shouldn't stop you from getting on this great route.
  5. I'm interested in getting back down to the quarry. Forecast for wednesday is looking iffy though. Let us know what it looks like closer to the date Off. cheers dom
  6. I went out to little si today with Micah and Mika and we returned the draws. Bret wasn't there so Micah replaced them on Abo, a couple of Brets buddies, Patrick and Jake were there and they said they'd take them down and return them to Bret, we were able to have a laugh about it. Micah made a mistake, but he did the right thing and made up for it. I hope we can put this behind us now. By the way Little Si was perfect today, bone dry and good sending temps, good time to get out there.
  7. He's training for a project of his on Ben Nevis, Scotland. The project is essentially a F9a (14d) trad route where if he were to fall on the upper crux section it would mean certain death, as the only gear is low on the route. Its sounds like a contender for E12 7b if he ever manages it. His previously hardest sport solo was a route called Hurlyburly an F8b in a birnam quarry scotland, a fall from this would be serious but not lethal as the quarry is essentially a 45 degree tube in the ground so the route is never more than 30ft off the deck. He's also led several E8's 9s and 10s where a fall would be serious. I wouldn't say he's 'touched' in the head. In fact he's one of the most responsible top-end climbers i know of. Just read about his account on his blog of backing off of The Indian Face an E9 in N Wales where the difficuly is 'only' 7b+ (12c) or so but the danger aspect was out of his hands due to bittle rock.
  8. will anything be dry tomorrow?
  9. the new route Gloater is awesome, well done jimmy off etc. I'm looking forward to trying the other new one next week as well. its nice to have more 5.10's to choose from there.
  10. The E-rating makes a lot more sense once you've done a few routes and get a feel for the routes. Its good in that it tells you the single hardest move of the route, so you know if there is going to be a stopper crux move or if it is sustained. For what its worth, i think the conversion to sport route grades in the table above needs to be taken down a couple notches. The E5's i've done were more like F6c-F7a (11a-11d), and the only E11 done is said to be around F8c+ (14c) not F9a+ to F9b+ (15a-15c) thats rediculous.
  11. i know, and whats worse is i went climbing indoors instead
  12. i think i'm going to give it a miss today

  24. hi adam, i think my girlfriend laura knows you from evergreen, she works at the climbing wall there. The quarry's going to be too dark and wet to climb over the winter but once the sun comes out again, you could probably get a ride down with us, we head down most wednesdays. thanks again for a great season Off. Legends will get a repeat next year!
