  1. has anyone been up to the South Climb Trailhead on Adams recently? I am wondering how close you can get in a car or similar ride, do you need a 4x4 or a sled to get anywhere near the mountain? thanks for any info, cheers, Brian :-)
  2. I saw that report, but it is 2 weeks old, so that is why I was looking for more recent information. we were also thinking about hitting up some rock, do you know the forecast for Smith this weekend?

  4. I have you, or anyone else, by chance heard anything about the roads and conditions on the south side of Adams? I am wondering how close someone can drive to the South Climb TH without a high rise 4x4 or a sled. freezing levels could be as high as 13,000' this weekend! spring? it sounds more like summer!
  5. hope you guys had a great time up there today! :-)
  6. almost went off a cliff on Sunday, but the mass pow wasnt there! LOL
  7. damn, Rainier was not the place to be last weekend. while you guys had "almost too deep powder that wasnt too actually too deep" on Rainier it was heavy, variable and packed. no face shots for anyone, even the guy on the skinniest skis! DAMN!
  8. I was going to do some BC stuff Sun/Mon but with all this snow and the associated avy danger I just might have to put off skiing till opening day too. I will let you know! :-)
  9. I will be in WS next week too and would be interested in a pub night but isnt Wed the night of one of the slideshows in Seattle? why not join everyone else even if you dont go to the show?
  10. can anyone post events in the "events section" or can only Mods do that?
  11. if you look at the info for Oly on the TGR site they keep using "TBD" for location, etc. go to www.alpinex.com, the Alpine Experience's website, they are the ones sponsoring the showing in Oly and on their calander it says it is showing on 18th Nov. that is also the information in the newletter that I have from them that was just sent out recently.
  12. on the way to the gym? you drink before you climb?!
  13. you mean that you actually admit to watching "Vertical Limit"?! LOL
  14. who is Cliff Mass? and yes, I am planning on ripping it up this weekend! :-)
  15. I havent seen it but I will when it gets to Olympia. it will cost half as much there as seeing it in Seattle or Tacoma. it is going to play on the 18th at the Capital Theater as I recall.
  16. has anyone seen any recent avy forecasts? the only one I can find is from Sep!
  17. thanks for the update D! :-)
  18. latest from the National Weather Service, regarding the forecast for next week: Monday through Thursday: Periods of snow and rain. Snow level 3000 feet Monday rising to 4500 feet Wednesday and 6000 feet on Thursday. Afternoon pass temperatures in the 30s. and that was for the west slope of the North Cascades, I would expect the other areas farther south will be even warmer... this will be a likely scenereo (sp?) for this winter: lots of snow just below freezing then warming. all the same though, lots of good skiing to be had if you time it right! :-)
  19. fat skis rock! I am a big time convert now. my ski of choice for powder: Fischer Big Stix 10.6 (with Linkin bindings) ...106mm in the waist! (135-106-123 overall) and while as it has been said before in this thread that fat skis dont hold an edge as well in really icy/hardpack conditions (duh!) I have used by Big Stix on the groomers and they do great! I like them much better than the Mega Bangs, on piste or off, and I have two other friends who will back me up on this one. I dont know what you guys see in the Mega's that you like so much... my do everything all-mountain ski: Atomic 10:EX, something like 118-84-112. wide enough for any powder but will also edge like crazy! super great ski, busts crud, high speed, carves, floats, you name it, the 10:EX can handle it! I would highly recommend demo-ing some newer, fatter boards this winter. cheers and have fun in the snow! hey, btw, I will be skiing the Baker BC this Sun/Mon if you want to come out and try my skis. not sure which pair I will use, but I can bring both pair if you are interested. give me a shout and let me know!
  20. no you dont! one of many great things about skiing the BC out of the ski area there...although that also usually means there are lots of other skiers there too! damn! makes it more like skiing the "frontcountry" than the "backcountry" at times... speaking of the Baker Ski Area BC/FC, we will skiing there Sun and Mon if anyone is interested in joining us. have fun in the pow! cheers, Brian :-)
  21. ST, are you still looking for an occasional climbing partner at VW? which VW do you usuall go to? I usually climbing late, after 7:00, at the Seattle VW. and I often am looking for a partner. are you interested in hooking up sometime? cheers, Brian :-)
  22. I dont get it? what do you mean by MUIR ON SATURDAY WILL NEVER BE TROUNCED! dazed and confused as usual...
  23. so is there going to be a Sea DT night?
  24. WOOHOO! my new best friend! :-) do you have any long access trips that require the use of the sled planned?
