  1. The fact that you think Marx was more concerned with "how society ought to be run" than with trying to understand how capitalist society works tells me you don't know enough about what these guys were actually up to to critique them. The man spend a significant amount of time berating his contemporaries for engaging in just that kind of "utopianism". You really should either try harder, avoid the topic entirely, or do what you do best: simple minded red baiting and atrocity photos. The same goes for what you think you know about what I 'believe'.
  2. The Espionage and Sedition Acts? You're fucking kidding me right? You do know that those tools were primarily used against labor organizers, Socialists, and Anarchists on behalf of industry, right? Um, I think it's safe to say the American Left were the biggest critics of those Acts. Once again, dumb, blind adherence to a partisan narrative and desire to "score points" against the "other team" making you look a complete fool. FDR's court-stacking scheme? Glenn Beckian tempest in a teapot. None of FDR's guys were anywhere near as radical as Reagan and Bush's crusaders for Christ and Capital. As far as the grand bargain with labor is concerned (tying wages to productivity, mass consumption, growth of a middle class in return for labor peace), that was also characterized by bipartisan consensus that cut across the political landscape for almost two generations ("We are all Keynesians now" - Richard Nixon). What your post shows is your ass hanging out when it comes to an understanding of a big picture that transcends some concocted, epic two-party grudge match. Maybe you should spend more time actually reading what Marx and those that came afterward (yes, Gramsci) had to say about politics in capitalist societies instead of just empty name dropping in defense of your weak game.
  3. Seriously, where has the American Right been on any of these issues for the last 100 years: Free Speech, Voting Rights, Worker's Rights, Environmental protections, consumer protections, addressing poverty, extending health benefits and educational opportunities for all, etc. etc.?? Oh, that's right, fighting tooth and nail against every single one of them on behalf of big business while using the name of the 'little guy' to maintain electoral viability while its real interests continue to narrow. No wonder the whackjobs want to turn the clock back to 1786, it's the last time they had anything relevant to say about making actual progress in this country! An even neater trick has been to blame "government" for nearly every societal and planetary ill while offering absolutely nothing in terms of any civil institutions capable of replacing its function beyond church bake sales. Nevermind leadership or governance, these dumb fucks can't even figure out how to keep the lights on and keep from poisoning their own people. I'd implore them to just get out of the way but judging from the ads on Fox News, I'd say the target demographic is already in full decline. Anti-imperialism and drug legalization (traditional leftish positions) are the only thing keeping young people remotely interested in the Right now the terror bubble has burst. When I say move to the South it's because it's the only place with any significant population density where you could read the Republican Party platform in a meeting and not be laughed out of the room. Do yourself a favor and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
  4. Seriously, FW, you'll love Alabama. It's putting all the best Conservative ideas into practice. It's practically a gol'durn la-BORA-tory down there for rightwingers. Stay out of Mobile tho, too much like New Orleans, gays and blacks and commies carousing in broad daylight!
  5. Except when it comes to using the N-word. That's a right the Right just can't get enough of defending!
  6. The American Left has a far stronger tradition and proven track record of defending and furthering the freedom of political expression around the world than Conservatives have in thought or deed. You can, like, look it up and stuff.
  7. Oh, were you referencing something? I usually skim your pedantic self-congratulation for the funny bits.
  8. If it weren't for Washington's 'Fellow Travellers', you and yours would still be living in tree stumps.
  9. Oops, forgot debt fetishism in the list above. Can't forget that most important tool of rhetorical cover!
  10. "Someone who understands economics" Hm, lets see. Deregulation, tax cuts, union busting, free trade uber alles, military industry friendly, privatization, climate change denial, etc, etc, etc... Can't wait to meet this new Conservative 'maverick'!

    The hot stove

Taijuan Walker Franklin Gutierrez Hisashi Iwakuma And now, Jesus Montero (the savior who sucked then was suspended for 50 games and is now in a make or break year): “I gained a lot of weight in my country,” said Montero. “So, now, I’m on a program to lose weight. I’m working really hard to get my weight back. I wasn’t doing nothing (after finishing winter ball), just eating.” Now taking bets on the date when the phrase "But, it's almost Felix Day" is first uttered...

They had a great July in 2007.
  15. Hmmm, not a presidential contender in the bunch. Maybe that's the difference between Democrats and Republicans?

    POLICE STATE!

The poor should: A. Get some money B. Buy themselves into a better situation
  17. Love the backdrop. Is that a climate change deniers conference?
  18. Then again, they also have the historical memory and critical thinking skills of crab lice.
  19. I reckon the "government can't and never ever will do anything right" crowd whose hearts and minds Christie has to win over in the primaries aren't going to look favorably on out and out East Coast Mafia-style thuggery.
  20. Seriously though, isn't everything about this scandal so Chris Christie? It just screams fat, petty thug fuck.
  21. Chris "Fire-Crotch" Christie for President!
