  1. been using my iPhone with Gaia GPS Offline Topo Maps for the past few years. I have my phone with me on all trips anyway and it actually has a great GPS receiver, so figure why carry another. map, compass, watch altimeter are backup. Battery life if the only issue (if the radio is left on). But if you keep it in airplane mode until you need to make a waypoint or find position, the battery will last for days. i'd imagine all modern smartphones are pretty much the same.
  2. Best gear investment I've ever made (hands down) was a pair of custom insoles from a local boot fitter. $100 - pricey, but transfer between all boots, and make them all feel like slippers. They also increase the boot warmth (shaped out of closed cell foam ). Paired with mid-weight Darn Tough Vermont socks = winner
  3. For sale (or trade for a 30L WorkSack) is a CiloGear 45L Worksack size M, production year 2011. Includes all straps and top lid. There are some small holes on the bottom side panels and abrasions on the bottom panel. All holes and abrasions have been repaired (backed with tenacious tape and sealed with seam grip). Also, the frame sheet has been modified slightly to allow for greater head clearance (the 2" horns at the top of frame sheet were cut off - frame stay has not been cut). Other than the stated repairs / mod, the pack is in good condition and ready to slay your alpine objectives this winter! Pons and tools are NOT included - just showing how they attach. Hit me with questions. High res pics available if needed. Looking for $150 OBO + shipping or reasonable trade for a 30L.
  4. You know it. you want it! $30 shipped CONUS. [img:left]http://www.mountainproject.com/images/93/42/107869342_medium_6dbea6.jpg[/img]
  5. +1 on Spantiks or Baruntse's. Also, try on the Scarpa Phantom 6000 if you can. I know you had issue with the Omega/Alpha, but the Phantom does fit differently. I have a 'Sportiva' foot and Scarpa's usually don't fit. However, I couldn't stop heel slip in the Spantik's - shell would not lace tight enough. Phantom 6k's are perfect. Barunste's fit well too, but not an precise as the Phantoms.
  6. bump with a price drop. $275 now includes shipping to CONUS. I want these shipped out tomorrow.
  7. up for sale are my beloved BD vipers w/ micro hammers. love scuffs and sexy purple racket tape are included. picks have plenty of life left, but could use a filing. adze available separately if required. $275 seems to be the going rate - OBO. buyer pays shipping or local pickup NYC Metro. (sorry for the huge pics) [img:left]http://www.mountainproject.com/images/66/13/107856613_large_381d0c.jpg[/img] [img:left]http://www.mountainproject.com/images/66/21/107856621_large_4e81af.jpg[/img]
